At least have the sales rep show you how you clean this system. I would look at Prestige,Modern Aire, even the 1000cfm Kobe before I would buy the VAH. Bar Ice Machine - U-Line CLR2160B-40 black 15" undercounter clear ice machine This is likely to last you 2-4 years before it starts giving you headaches. I would get the Hoshizaki.I think all the appliances on your preliminary list are made in the USA and with the exception of Sharp are American companies. The Hoshi is made in Georgia and is a lot more reliable.It is not a little better but a lot better.It is twice the price but worth it IMO. A notch below is Manitowoc. They make under-counter ice-makers for Sub-Zero. Very expensive. They sell equivalent units under their own brand without residential warranties. Double Oven - Viking VEDO130SS s/s 30" "1" series double oven, upper convection (CLEARANCE ITEM) I would strongly prefer the Wolf.It seems Viking oven reliability has improved the last year or two but I would not pull the trigger. Companies like DCS have tradtional knob design. I would look there before buying Viking. I would probably get something else. Washing Machine - Whirlpool WFW94HEXR red 4.3 cu ft Duet front-load washer Dryer - Whirlpool WED94HEXR red 7.4 cu ft Duet electric dryer If it has to be Red & American then there is really no choice. If it just has to be red I would get the equivalent Samsungs. If it does not have to red just made in the USA I would hunt down a pair of Bosch Vision on clearance. Highest washer temps for USA available washer at 170 degrees. On board heater engages in all cycles.True European Wash or as close as USA available machines get. It divides cycles into 12 temperature zones and washes at least 3 minutes in each zone. Removing 99.9% stains and not allowing 99.9% of stains to set it. Dishwasher - Kitchen Aid KUDE40FXSS s/s 24" undercounter dishwasher I would read through linked thread and similar before pulling trigger. I still like made in the USA Bosch better and Miele best. $989 seems way too high for a MW. I'd skip the Viking rangetop and get a more reliable brand - Bluestar, Capital, Wolf, DCS for example.

I'm sure we're not disagreeing, Antss--there's nothing wrong with your offer to answer questions and back off approach. The best salesman will not hound, but will be more forward with offering help, however. E.g., if, after walking around or a few minutes, the browser stops in front of a washing machine, walk by and offer a quick factoid like the special on the matching dryer that will start next week, the water savings, or the available new designer color. Offer it with a friendly look, and back off if a question isn't forthcoming after two beats. That kind of thing. That is, try to turn browsers into future customers, without hounding or making uncomfortable people who just want to wander around and look for themselves. I sometimes don't get what David is talking about, though he can be very helpful. I sure didn't understand the mocking post, so let it slide by. There are an awful lot of people with that kind of appliance budget. I think it's probably even more important to get the best possible units in that price range if it's determined by available cash rather than disinterest. That means that there's no budget for trying something else if one is dissatisfied or replacing if something goes ftttth, and, if AJMadison's website is to be believed, you really can get a range, fridge and DW, from a name company for the price of a good Miele DW. I've also known people who got excellent values on the secondary market. I had the luxury of choosing every appliance my little heart desired, but many people need something more than a faucet and a can of sterno who can't afford much. Jgopp is a well respected member of the Kitchens Forum, who has created a perfectly lovely kitchen with creative solutions to some interesting challenges. Appliances worthy of this forum. Why you would assume he wasn't being up front, I don't know. I assumed he was asking for a single buddy who needs appliances for a new place but doesn't know the lingo, nor have much money to spend.

@geoffrey b - I had to replace several appliances over the past 15 years. The dealers delivered into the house and provided installers (additional cost) to properly move and install the appliances. This includes a wall oven and a built in 36" refrigerator. I provided installation instructions to an installer who ignored them, basically. This came from a very large dealer in my area but none of his people really knew what they were doing with what I bought except the guys who installed the washer/dryer. Other brands perhaps. Initially, I inquired about who would do the warranty work on my appliances and even called them. They were very nice. Then one guy became ill and they went out of business. It was a mess after that. When the fridge door was recalled there was no one in the area who would agree to do the work. Unfortunately, it's difficult to make decisions based on service issues these days. How delivery works can be tricky and needs to be clarified in advance Then there may be additional steps. As I said, a bargain can be expensive.
