Installing a Miele (or other) speed oven behind a door?
Comments (30)The problem is the voltage required. There just aren't that many 240 volt switches that do what you need. There are several 120 ones though. Your best bet will be to talk to whomever is going to do the electrical for your renovation and have him talk to his local supply house. I'm certain that these switches do exist, as there is one on one of our welders that is housed in a job box, but I have never seen an attractive one that I would put into a kitchen. But, I'm not that up to date on uncommon electrical components. Your electrician may not be either, but he can make the supply houses do more research for him. If there is a solution out there that will work and look attractive, I'd bet that the local supply house in a large metro area like yours would know of it. And since you will need the electrician to install it anyway, put the burden of research onto him and he can put it onto the suppliers. Have you thought about just choosing a more "retro" looking oven so as to not feel so ashamed of it's modern looks as to need to conceal it? Edited to remove all of the links to wall ovens and not speed ovens. Comments (4)hey peanut -- I have the 3035 and really love it. Havent used a 6 but hope you will post and tell us when you get started. The install on mine was shockingly simple. They brought it in, leveled it, plugged it in, connected the hoses. Then they ran a full Sanitize cycle, which is needed (2 hours). Then it was ready to use. The installer said that the machine is so programmed that the only thing to go wrong with an install is that it's not level -- and it won't run if it's not, he explained. These guys were excellent, walked the machines into the laundry room on straps. They had installed many Mieles. To get started, you will need a little kit of powdered HE detergent and liquid detergent. Expect you may already have read some of the detergent threads so you know some of us also use special black wash and wool liquids. We use half or less than half of what the packages indicate even though the Miele booklet says to follow instructions. Buffalotina and I put together a cheat sheet for the 30s which might also be helpful to you. I'll link it below. But very best wishes on your marriage and the wonderful new machine. Comments (27)Mark, I did buy the 6745 with the 10 year warranty. We're in a open floorplan, we've had it about a month now; I'm not sure if it's quieter or not, but it washes very well, and I like the auto door opening feature. I installed the second Miele myself; the only snag was the water line didn't want to connect so (a long story shortened) we bought a 12" extention line to connect it, this went on easily. Like fauguy, I owned a previous Miele before. Despite having problems with it and checking out competitive models from Asko and Bosche, we elected to go back to Miele. The Asko bottom racks were too low, and our dishes had problems staying where they were put on the bosche racks when opening and closing them. On the Miele, the problems we had was the in-line water line with the solenoid box on it which crapped out for the third time. Now, apparently they've put the solenoid within the dw. And as for the warranty, although over an hour away, Miele will reimburse us after paying our local appliance repair facility I have a ConsumerReports on-line subscription, and I'll tell you it isn't for the reports on any appliances. Their user reviews rarely reflect CR's take on them. Brent...See MoreMiele 6565 Scvi de-installation and re-installation
Comments (1)I have found the 1000/2000 Miele dishwasher service manual by searching on the Internet. I don't recall if the source was Miele. A 6000 manual might also be located. These manuals will have drawings and should clarify whether insulation was above or below the circuit boards....See Moredan1888
