Comments (7)Wodka, Just a word of caution in purchasing chairs for your antique table. We purchased an antique table some 20 odd years ago when we built our house (also had to wait for the house to be completed before pickup). Our friends who are avid antique collectors warned us that truly antique tables generally are shorter than our modern tables and to be careful of chair height when we purchased them. We found antique chairs to go with the table and they also set lower than modern chairs. Our table and chairs are from the 1850's. The table had one leg shorter than the others so we had to put a coaster under it. Then we decided to put coasters under all legs (requiring an extra one under the short leg) to give a little extra height. This was perfect. We would not be able to add chair pads as you would not be able to sit comfortably with your legs under the table. If your table does not have an apron as mine does, you may not be as impacted. Just be aware when you purchase your chairs and enjoy your table! Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreTelephone table? Gossip bench?
Comments (20)Thanks so much! My craft room is going to have a vintage/retro vibe. I actually have an "inspiration piece", my Mom's old cannister set from the '50's: The room already has a vintage style corded black phone, so now I can move the phone off of my desk. I actually use phonebooks, too, as old-school as that is. No pics of the room yet. It's a bit of a disaster right now, and this is the first of several pieces that need a makeover. I'm still planning out paint color/distribution. I want it to be bright and cheerful, but that yellow/red/blue combo can get out of hand pretty quickly. I'm also planning a gallery wall with all of my art and pics that don't "go" anywhere else. The whole thing has potential to turn out like Pee Wee's Playhouse. Or it could be a very freeing experiment in color and a rather loose set of rules....See MoreAntique Pine Table and chairs-craigslist
Comments (14)This is the exact type of table and chairs my parents have in their house for everyday. It is great. Their table is oak but the chairs are the exact same--pine. Classic, comfortable, practical, lovely. You can dress it up or down with placemats, tablecloths, chair cushions, covers, etc....See Morelindac
