Swan Lake is about 87 miles by road Northwest of Columbia. Diamondback Water Snakes are present at Swan Lake, but strangely I haven't seen any yet that I could positively ID as such there, although some of my "Blotched Water Snakes" at a distance could perhaps be Diamondbacks for all I know. I know further west at Squaw Creek NWR, Diamondbacks seem to be by far the dominant nerodia. I have always been intrigued by which nerodia fills a niche, since at Mingo NWR, Broad-Bandeds are abundant but at Snake Road they are absent. However, Snake Road has Mississippi Greens in decent numbers, and Yellowbellies rule there among Nerodia. As for bobcats, I imagine wild areas in the South Central Ozarks around dawn and dusk would be the best places, but its hard to argue with a place where I have actually seen one.

Thank you kitchendetective (love the name by the way)! Not sure how many feet between island and sink but not many (kitchen is about 12.5 x14' or else 12x 14.5' - I can never remember) but the island is portable. It doesn't have wheels but is small and moves easily enough. I prefer angles, but if it were considered more "period" to have them bump straight out I'd want to do that. Problem is I have no idea and I'm guessing most don't. Most of the lines in the house - being craftsman in so many details - are 90 degrees. E.g. lots of square pillars as opposed to round, and straight lines as opposed to scalloped or frilly things you know? If anyone has pics of either way (straight or angled) I'd love to see them! Thanks again...
