My hairdresser (who weighs about 120 lbs) recently installed a flagstone patio by herself. The flagstone cost her about $600. Other costs included sand and some plants she planted in between the flagstone. It looks georgeous. I'm going over there Thursday and could take a photo if you want more information. DH and I plan something similar underneath our deck. Although we have no experience, I think we could do an adequate job. I don't get it, Chaz... I'm blonde and slow! Duh... explain it slowly, please. Skip-Bo sounds like fun, and Uno has always been a blast! The ex and I played with another couple in the complex when we lived West Chicago. Uno nights always included plenty of booze! What a riot! As kids, my Dad taught us to play War, Poker and BlackJack... and they played Pinochle, and a card game called Donkey with their adult friends. Bozo the Clown... and Ringmaster Ned, and the original Cookie the Clown! Watched it every day! Even went there once and was part of the audience! Egads, I'm old!

Dear Shelly, If Myrtillocactus could feed the world (and it can, you know - its berries are tart and tasty), we will look to you to supply cuttings. I know you're up for the challenge. As the others have suggested, you might consider cutting the offset just below the end of the scarred portion. Normally, offsets from this plant are best taken at the joint, a phrase, I grant you, fraught with possibility but at the moment meant botanically. Leave it around for Morgan BestKitty to admire and plant in the spring (you plant it - Morgan has better things to do, I daresay). I'd suggest a more-porous-less-peat mixture for rooting the cutting, but you know best. I'd guess that the single cutting will grow best if that second offset is left on, but you could root that one, too. Your amputated plant will grow offsets again, but there ain't no growin' outta that scar, whether it's old sunburn or (in several of my plants' cases) the residue of alcohol residue left in the sun and seared into the very epidermis, not unlike tribal branding. I admire the shot immensely, because it allows me to be nosy and see what you read - one of the first things I do, as a curious person, when invited into someone's home for the first time. I love the Anais Nin and Fellowship of the Ring next to each other. Some of the jewel's thousands of facets revealed!

Kay, how are you? I haven't been around for a while, I had to take a break and get myself together. To everyone I want to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss and sadness, it is the worst pain anyone can have BUT it does get better, I promise. My heart and soul mate died 14 months ago and I wanted to die with him, I was in so much pain and so scared of what was going to happen to me without him; life must go on. I was told that it doesn't get better but it gets different and they were right. I still weep and some days are bad but I have more good days as time goes on. Life won't seem so alien after a while, I just felt like I didn't belong here any more, not in my home, my job or this world but I did finally settle with my feet back on the ground. It's not easy but you have to push youself to live and it eventually gets easier. Please take care of yourselves, get help if you need it and work hard at being strong, we will never forget and we will always love them and happier days are ahead. God Bless all, Mav.
