This little guy/girl has been hanging out around our crispy dried up yard for the past couple of months. I finally got a pic, although I couldn't get very close and my digital camera does not have a professional quality zoom. He's quite stunning when glimpsed in the forest.

White Deer near Boulder Junction

It is multi-colored...browns and white. I live in Day, which isn't on the map, but near Rozelville. M and highway C. We drive highway C east to O and then south to boulder Junction. I saw him 2 times earlier this spring. My friend saw him and got the picture. He's about 5 miles north of Boulder Junction, on O and north of hwy 10. And the paulding lights....Are really neat. Just north of Watersmeet. Can't see it in the daytime...but at night if it's really quiet, the light comes very close. We went snowmobiling there 1 year...and in Jan. in zero weather, that light looked like it was 10 feet from us. and about the size of a basketball. other times it is about tennis ball size. There are a lot of legends. about it. Has been on unsolved mysteries too. Marcia

Thanks everyone for coming. I was surprised at the turnout. There will be a fall swap sometime around the end of September so pencil it in. For those of you that came over for a home garden tour at my house - to put things in perspective, When I moved into the place in February of 2010 it was a blank slate except for the giant Poncirus trifoliata (which I failed to point out on the tour), a large camellia and two ancient muscadine vines, so everything you saw was planted after that. The cactus garden was planted in 2012. The greenhouse was built in 2013. The fruit trees and vines were planted starting in 2011 and new ones get added every year. The tropical fruit trees stayed small while in pots but once I planted them in those wire 'cage pots' they spring into life and take off. Also, for the ones grown from seed, I kept only the most vigorous growers and those trees grew way faster than normal. I will add that I get more fruit from the trees in the greenhouse than I ever do from the trees outside in the ground. Thanks for coming by.

That is crazy! But I wouldn't be surprised if somebody just HAD to kill this animal just because of it's uniqueness.

Yes, I'm against hunting so that was sarcasm. It's hard to tell in writing.

Seneca army depot has a herd. I've seen a few of them when I've driven by.

The white deer at Seneca army base are interesting. I've seen them and taken pictures at only a few feet.Thought the fence. NYS built a new prison using part of the base. The fence was opened to allow for construction and some of these deer wondered out. So now we have the white gene mixing with our free ranging deer.This white gene is not limited to white tail deer. There are white moose in Alaska and white black bear off British Columbia coast.

Just wanted to let you all know that "Piglet", as we refer to him(?) is still around. These photos were taken a few months ago, but we see him and his cadre several times a week feeding in the backyard.
