Donn, I have feverfew "white ball" it is pure white and lovely. Don't have a photo this second, but it was WS last year and is fabby. How about a white aster for later bloom? You need something for later in the year. White betony is another suggestion. Stachys officinalis 'Alba', White betony White balloon flowers (dwarf for your edge) candytuft (perennial, for edge) Some white re-blooming iris (let me know, I can send) Nicotiana for the scent Veronical longiflora in white (I bought one, mine didn't germinate and they are so nice). non flowering lamb ears (Big Ears) to balanace the foliage color on a beautiful white dianthus I have "Itsaul's White" - the foliage is icey white/blue and the flowers pure white. I can save seeds if you'd like.) White siberian iris (again, I have some) These bloom after the very early white bearded iris I have listed above, so nice in succession White japanese roof iris: stunning when in bloom, the leaves provide a lovely garden accent! Its sounds like you probably have a pair of Red tails and probably a sharpie or Coopers Hawk. In general, Hawks don't prey on other healthy adult Hawks. Larger Hawks will attack the nests of smaller hawks. About the only exception is probably a large Goshawk would have smaller Hawks on the menu and be able to catch them. But in your case, a Red tail trying to catch a Sharpie is like a Suburban trying to catch a Corvette. In one of the few studies I've seen, the highest Sharpie mortality was from owl predation, which leads them to roost in dense cover. Your probably just seeing an increase in raptor activity as Hawks begin pairing up and will start nesting in a few weeks.

Beck1, In the winter (Nov-Apr'ish) in your area, a white-headed hawk such as this could be a Krider's Red-tailed Hawk or a light-morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk. By June, however, they're back at their breeding grounds. Had this photo been taken in winter, I'd have to consider them in the case of a white-headed hawk like this one. Since this is summer, a leucistic bird is more likely. Just wanted to share that info with you!
