Whatever rose you have, it looks exactly like the one that was sent to me as 'Souvenir du Madame Leonie Viennot' ... which it obviously isn't. My Mrs. Woods' is about 5' x 5', and it's never gotten anywhere near as large as what you're showing. Mrs Woods' buds are very distinctive as they open ... the outer petals make a ruff and the inner petals open from a cone. Since my rose wasn't what it was labeled to be, I dug it up last year and gave it away. I now have another plant of it, which came up from roots left behind. I wish I knew what this rose was, too, because it's healthy and vigorous and blooms a lot, and I would love to add it to my inventory. Connie

Took these a while back and never got around to posting them, ran across them again today and thought I'd see if someone could help me figure out what kind of bird/raptor this is, some photos are in a set, but there are a few more which aren't in set that show a second bird flying in around tree, assuming it's a parent bird but idk, this bird almost looks to be a hawk of some kind with no head feathers, or does to me anyway. One dog dies last year and I believe the other did this year. Maybe she just got tired of them and gave them up. It has been quite quiet around here, neighbors have commented on it. As for moving should she replace them, I inherited the house I grew up in. My mother designed it, my father built it. There are over 400 specific plants in the gardens and there is just too much sentimentality involved, not to mention that I am a bit old to be relocating. For now, her hedges have thickened and grown tall enough that all anyone sees is a nice green backdrop for my gardens. You would not even know there was a house in there. It is very unfortunate because the house has an excellent picture window that used to overlook the valley. Last summer, in the only patch of sun filled area in her yard, she had a lawn chair out and was sunning herself. I could only see her through a bathroom window and she looked like the proverbial beached whale. I pulled the curtains to stop from laughing. The dogs are just a memory now....

Looks like an immature Mississippi Kite to me. The bright white supercillary line with rich brown streaking are clinchers. Plus, this bird has the "cute rounded head and small beak" of a kite rather than the blockier head and more pronounced beak of a buteo hawk. BN
