Mystery Rose

My apologies for such large pics. I have explored photo bucket several times to correct this issue, to no avail. The latest effort was undertaken just now. Any hint is appreciated.

This lovely, lacy and well mannered climber was sold to me as Cl White Maman Cochet. It was a small band and took over two years to bloom. The vendor replaced it with the monster Cl Maman Cochet which will be given away by next spring.

As near as I can guess, do I have Mrs. Wood's Lavender Pink Noisette? It's scent is elusive and I hope for more once it is more mature. It grows to about 12-15 feet, sends up new very long canes from the base and the older canes seem to expire at a regular clip.

In the final pic, Is an unknown raptor, which I believe to be a fledgling, perched on the trellis I fantasize about covering with ramblers.

Just how big is that trellis?! It looks like a pillar for a high voltage electricity line.

It will be magnificent covered with roses.

I brought in a bud and bloom of my MWLPN to compare with yours and can only say that it's a good possibility. My bush has had mildew which changes the appearance of the blooms and leaves. Mine does have a sweet fragrance at times. It's 5 to 6 feet tall and I haven't had any older canes die back, but it is a fairly young plant which has been transplanted, probably setting it back another year in age. Yours looks beautifully healthy. The color and shape of your flower certainly appear very similar to mine. I love that lavender pink color!

It really does look like the photos of Ginger Syllabub, which is funny because that's one that has been on my wish list. Maybe someone who grows Ginger will chime in, but I think that's a good guess. I was thinking it also looks like Barden's October Moon but I figured he would have identified it for you if that's what it is.

@Desert Rose (10a Sunset 19) The one I shovel pruned was planted in a terrible spot: all day full sun, in a corner of two walls, so bad air circulation and terrible reflection heat. I thought since it's a sunbelt, it should be OK with the heat. Boy I was wrong. The spring flush was very very lovely. But once the summer began, the blooms wilted quickly under the sun, also the foliage looked damaged and very ugly. I never figured out what caused the foliage damage, not sure if it's fungal disease, or mite/insect infection. I had it in that spot for 3 years, and it showed the same symptom every summer, and never recovered for the rest of the year. So I shovel pruned it. But later one day when I saw one of the photos I took in spring, I missed it so much. So I bought another one from Heirloom. Just planted it in a part shade area last weekend. My experience with Plum Perfect is it's not that heat and sun tolerant, would appreciate some afternoon shade. But one interesting thing I noticed is that although the blooms wilted during the day, they bounced back in the evening. The petal substance is good. What I like the most is Plum Perfect has the longest vase life I have ever seen. It can last so long in the vase almost like fake plastics flowers.

Ingrid, I still have some roses left, but in the main they're not thriving. Kim diagnosed powdery mildew. The ones that are left are starting to look not just sad but out of place. Mme Lombard soldiers on, but I'm not crazy about the colour most of the year. It's rather a harsh pink once it heats up. In Spring she was lovely though. Marie van Houtte is still huge despite me cutting away more than a third, but there's a mass of dead stuff underneath. G Nabonnand is very leggy and dying back constantly but still has beautiful blooms sometimes. I bought Bliss Parfuma 2 or 3 years ago. I had it in a pot and it didn't do well but planted it out a few months ago and it is giving me more pleasure than any other - fat, blush pink, fragrant blooms. I added Mutabilis (lost the previous one), Lady Hillingdon and Rose de Rescht (substituted for Mme Caroline Testout which I really wanted) this year. They look ok so far, but Mrs BR Cant in the same area is dying back severely. I really must pull her out. She had a few sumptuous and fragrant blooms in Spring (without the tan colour), so I've been reluctant. We're really enjoying our new native areas though, so it's not all doom and gloom! As for my health, thanks for your concern. I'm sure I'll be sorted soon! The procedure was very easy. I may need another one but am fine with that.

I've had Mrs. Woods' LPN for about ten years. Mine has never approached that size in height or width, nor have the canes gotten into the honkin' big wants to grow in every which direction Tea rose crossed with something really big habit.
MWLPN also (this is in Tennessee) has a paler pink bloom in all seasons. I haven't gotten blooms that bright on her.

Whatever rose you have, it looks exactly like the one that was sent to me as 'Souvenir du Madame Leonie Viennot' ... which it obviously isn't. My Mrs. Woods' is about 5' x 5', and it's never gotten anywhere near as large as what you're showing. Mrs Woods' buds are very distinctive as they open ... the outer petals make a ruff and the inner petals open from a cone.

Since my rose wasn't what it was labeled to be, I dug it up last year and gave it away. I now have another plant of it, which came up from roots left behind. I wish I knew what this rose was, too, because it's healthy and vigorous and blooms a lot, and I would love to add it to my inventory.

idixierose, It IS a high voltage structure. It also is a fantasy, but wouldn't it be wonderful.

Ingrid, It is very healthy and definitely a climber here.

anntn6b, This pick was way underexposed and I photo shopped it to lighten it up, but the rose is quite a bright pink.

Connie, If yours came from a now defunct nursery in your general area, we may have the same plant. This one has made a button eye and sometimes that eye is green. I will look for the ruff and cone on the next spray.
