Seedling Charles Johnston x Mal

I'm humbled by your praise. Thank you so much. I've bought hundreds of seed on the LA and have posted several of those pictures, but this is a cross that I made using some of the older daylilies that I find beautiful. Charles Johnston is always my first red(or deep rose pink) to bloom. He has been blooming now for a week. He is very had to set a pod, very hard, but he does a good job when he does set one. Mal bloomed early the year I made this cross, because he is still a week or so away from blooming. I think that God blessed this cross with it's simple beauty. My camera is a Canon PowerShot A540 that I bought last June. It wasn't terribly expensive, around $175. But, I must stress that the best purchase I made with it was a $20 tripod. I've tried not using the tripod and the difference is amazing. For some reason it helps the camera to be able to capture the true colors of the blooms. Also, I've experimented with different angles and I guess it is the light that can make the WOW factor in the photos because this sure makes a difference too. I learn more everyday as I take my pictures. Some days I will make as many as 500 photos, but I will average around 300. I'm truly blessed to have the time to do this because I spend about 2 hours making the shots another 2 or so culling the bad ones out. I do thank all of you so very much for your kind words. Blessings to you all, Mona

I'm In Musical Heaven!

deborah there's another way for you to skin that cat and get the music you love - Pandora. It won't get you any of the 'radio' talk but you can custom fit your music to your tastes. I love it and create varying 'stations' so I always have something to fit my mood. It's also a great way to discover artists that you otherwise might not hear. In addition to the new-to-me things placed in my queue, I regularly check out who else listens to my stations and what else THEY listen to. Kind of like going through the book lists at Amazon. I usually have it on any time I'm on the computer - right now I'm listening to DeVotchKa - my oldest son turned me on to them but it is an acquired taste ;-) And you can take Pandora with you in the car Here is a link that might be useful: Pandora Radio

Are you closet blessed?

Our house was built in 1983 and we are TRULY closet blessed...there's even a closet in the family room...only about a 4 foot square, but the previous owners built shelves floor to ceiling to hold VHS tapes and shelves to hold their stereo system, including putting a power outlet in it... in our foyer is a coat closet and adjacent was another closet which I put shelves in floor to ceiling and it holds paper supplies and outdoor stuff picnic supplies..at the top of our back stairs is another closet small because of the roofline...but it holds the upstairs Christmas stuff, school supplies, toys my son can't stand to part with...(that's gonna change soon!)...each bedroom has a walk in closet...Yep...I'm truly blessed...

Great picture! From the looks on their faces, were you by chance using power tools and disturbed their sleep?

Blessed is right!

Breath taking indeed. We are surrounded by nature, unfortunately, we don't get to see alot of the nocturnal ones such as the picture of this beautiful pair you so kindly shared with us.

I have over the years, caught a sighting or two of many four legged night creatures; once almost petting a possum who I thought was a beautiful white cat, until it came into the light and scared the crap out of me and my cat, which went running in a different direction than I thank goodness.

LOL Flo...the other night as I left work, I called to a rather large 'kitty' that was crossing the underlit parking lot.

It stopped...I walked closer to it...then ran!

That was the BIGGEST coon I'd ever seen!
LOL

BTW: Mary is back in the same palm, after some sort of hiatus.
She's much larger now.
They were very young when I first 'found' them in my tree last Spring.
No sign of Oh-Eee, tho...*sniff
I'm hoping our resident red-tail didn't snag'm this fall.

Oh-Eee has returned as well!!!
Doin' the happy dance!

My DH and I have plans designed to push one side of our fence out about 6' or so and erecting a pole with an owl box attached.
Since they seem to love that particular spot so much, were hoping they stay and utilizes the box.
Fingers' crossed for owlets this coming year!
