Check out This Hawk in My City Backyard

I live in Chicago, about 20 minutes from the Sears tower. My backyard is shared with several townhomes in a narrow U, and is somewhat closed in-- kinda canyon-like in a way. I took this photo this past Oct. of this hawk hanging out on my fence. At the time, I was amazed that he (or she?) was in such an urban area, and figured he/she was just passing through on a migration. But he stayed. I just saw him/her yesterday, sitting on that exact spot on the fence, eating a dead squirrel with a lot of gusto. Can anyone tell me the name of this bird or any other info? Isn't it unusual for such a bird to be in a city? (although there are plenty of squirrels, rabbits, and, unfortunately, rats, for a hawk to eat).
