That looks GREAT. I still can't believe that PRG can grow so well under that much shade... Unreal. Those varieties must be the most shade tolerant PRGs out there. I have always had great results with Turfstar, but not with that much shade. I have tried it in the shade, but it thins out significally. I actually decided not to use PRG in my backyard this year, instead I"m using Kenblue and Fine Fescue. Have you tried letting the grass grow tall so see if it gets darkger green? Jim, I"m glad to hear that your lawn is doing great and that you're happy with the Turfstar PRG. Post some pictures when you get a chance. My only complain about mixing PRG with KBG is that during the summer KBG loses its dark green color and becomes green, while PRG remains dark green despite the heat and lack of nitrogen. During the Spring and fall and some times winter (depending where you're located), however, it is impossible to tell the two apart unless you get a close up on the bluegrass blade and spot the "boat" shape leaf.

hee-hee, Granniek as soon as you mentioned checking the heat I ran to my orchid and felt it, lol! Calvin, Granniek, and everyone who wrote, again, thanks for the cross-our-fingers-well-wishing... Calvin, I am glad you reconfirmed about not paying attention to what I originally read about the spritzing (I didn't read it on this forum but on some online orchid care instructions)... When I first read those instructions I was thinking hmmm, spritzing, that's odd... You see spritzing roses is a huge no-no! it will cause blackspot and a whole array of nasty fungus...But then I thought well, maybe the reason why the online instructions stated this was because orchids are "immune" to these fungus vulnerabilities because they originate in jungle, tropical areas...Well so much goes for my "invented" theory about why someone would suggest this... Kansas by the way is very hot! and the sun glares like heck! if I were to stick them outdoors the poor orchids would roast! unlike the lovely cooler weather of Toronto...My orchids are pretty close to the air-conditioning vents which is not ideal because it dries out the plant, but that! is so much more preferable to yucky fungus. Calvin, two of my immediate cousins live in Canada. One lives in Newfoundland and the other now is in Ottawa. I love how beautiful autumn is in Canada... you just can't get those Canadian rich candy scarlets, brilliant oranges, tangerines here in the Midwest U.S.A... All we get is murky browns and muddy reds at the best... I have wonderful childhood memories of visiting my cousins in Newfoundland. The ocean cliffs are sooo gorgeous! And oh, by the way, everyone, shame on me...there were quite a few online warnings to keep the pot on the small side, but nooooo, pigheaded me thought o.k. I better ask the experts here at this forum as the final say-so... Sort of reminds me that I'm like the pesky kid in the classroom who won't shut up and asks the stupidest things and can't seem to listen, hahahaha! But now I can sit back down on my seat and shut up! LOL!

I don't have much history on it, other than I acquired it from a local nursery labeled as 'Golden Gnome Oriental spruce'. This seems unlikely as I've seen nothing on google showing that name. I'll keep an eye on it and the handful of other smallish, picea orientalis gold flushing plants. We'd all love to see some of your golden clones, show, show! :) -Will

A quick note to say that DVDflick worked. I got the video's made - just in a nick of time (bc. I have a full day conference tomorrow). Now my daughter can bring her friend the videos (and scrapbook). DVDflick was amazingly easy compared to other things I tried. Once on the program, I printed the 6 page guide - which explained most of what I needed to know. Two things I had to figure out myself - and am posting here for others who may try this. 1 - on the Configure your Project tab, there are settings for video. If you want to change the resolution/file size (as I did to fit a 45 minute video on a standard dvd), you can adjust the bit rate). 2 - I would recommend on the burning settings (also under configure your project tab), choose to have it burn it to dvd, and verify, and eject. The first dvd I made I only selected burn it and verify. It burned it - ejected, reinserted and played it. But then the dvd tray was locked and couldn't be opened. This is somewhat frequent occurence with disc burning software - which wants to prevent you from accidentally opening the tray before it's done. The only way I could open the tray was to shut the computer, and hit the open disk tray button as it was rebooting. The next video I made, I selected eject when done - and it ejected it. For a while I thought the tray was broken - and tried the usual methods to release - like the paper clip in the tiny hole near the tray. And going to my computer, d:, eject disk. Nothing worked bc. the software was preventing it. Once my disk was ejected - and the software closed, the open and close tray works fine with other programs. Thanks so much. This was a great program. Just curious if convertxtodvd would get me additional features. I can see burning many dvd's for people (we seem to be the videographers of many social gatherings and I'd like to give dvd's to people who were part of the plans). DVDflick worked great - but I don't mind paying a little if it gets me more features. Any thoughts? Thanks so much. You saved me. Lynn.
