I took my first winter trip to the Catskills today hoping to see some eagles.I checked a couple of places I've seen them before. NOTHING. I drove route 10 from Deposit up several miles along the reservoir NOTHING. As I was driving back something caught my attention on the dam. I turned around and went back to check it out. On the dam there is a service road. Along the road are concrete post. To my surprise there were 10 eagles sitting on these post. 5 mature and 5 immature. That change my record of ten different eagles in a week to ten in a day . The trip was a last minute thought. I didn't have my cameras with me

Brrr is right! I just came back from taking DS to Pittsburgh for a wedding. I went shopping after and I nearly froze! I was thinking of writing to Patti to see how she is. And where is Milkdud? If enough of us write, maybe they will realize how much we miss them. Donna - Have a great trip!!! Jen - Yes, you and Galen continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Haven't done anything worthwhile yet this weekend, so I had better get some stuff done. DS came in last night and we had a nice visit. He bought a townhouse in FL, so I guess he isn't thinking of moving home anytime soon. ((Raeanne)) - I know EXACTLY how you are feeling about DD moving across country. It is possible to be excited for them and secretly wishing they would change their minds at the same time! Marci

A couple that I'd thought of in Alberta and Saskatchewan have been named already ... but Saskatchewan also has a "Climax": one of the students in our theological school came from there. Central Butte, Findlater, Porcupine Plain, Lucky Lake and Duck Lake are in Saskatchewan, also. ole joyful

I've had the great fortune to see eagles quite a few times, in different places. This bird is from a trip to Alaska where they were plentiful. Where we stayed in Juneau, they were sitting on the streetlights like pigeons, so many at one time. This particular bird was a place that we hiked to. I was on a very small boat, The Discovery, on a cruise with 6 other guests and 4 crew. It was the best trip ever in terms of seeing wildlife. I've been amazed at the comeback of eagles, especially around here. There is at least one nesting pair just an hour from here, at Cowan Lake, very close to the farm where I used to have Teddy. I was driving home one afternoon and I saw an eagle on the ground, next to the road, checking out some roadkill. It was thrilling to see him.
