It looks like a wolf spider of some kind. One way to tell between wolf spiders and fishing spiders is to look at the positions of the eyes. To me, it does not look like a carolina wolf spider Hogna carolinensis, but maybe. You might try an ID request on bugguide.net. I don't think that you need to be worried about it. Just don't try to handle it. Brian

I dont know what type of spider it is, but as the previous poster said, it is a jumping spider, of which there are many varieties. They generally dont build webs, they are ambush and attack predators. They are cool. There are only 2 species of dangerously poisonous spiders in the US that I know of, and that isnt either one. If its on your car door trim, it may get blown off onto the road when you drive. I would try t coax it onto a piece of paper or onto your shirt sleeve, then carefully move it to a bush or tree branch, or to the side of your house near the ground.
