Den Vic Thanks for the terrific photos. You bring a little of the West Coast to us all. I am just two years, at the home of my present garden. It takes years and years to get things how you would like them to be. (I miss the garden I left behind) But it seems a good year, for both vegetables and flowers in my own garden. Tomatoes, eggplants peppers are growing splendidly. Have been using peppers from the gardens, can't keep up with the beans. Some Earwigs damage, mostly on the Brugmansia leaves. I don't bother about it to much. Seems once the plant gets larger they leave it alone. I do have bloom on some Brugmansia, which is very early for me. Perhaps I am learning more about the plant and what to do to get earlier bloom. Wish I had more Cannas growing, they look so tropical. Dahlias are going to start blooming maybe another two weeks. Lots of Day lilies blooming. I divided them up in spring and thought perhaps I would lose bloom this year, but not so. Strange? I put some squash at the back of my vegetable patch. I don't water them at all really. Different kinds of squash. I can not believe how huge the plants have grown. I keep moving the vines from growing in the garden so as they grow out on the lawn. But, on the lawn, of course I can not cut the grass where the vines are. Will see how that goes. This street where I live, is very much a grass street. Great attention paid to ones grass.

/TPH. I like the white caterpillar photo a lot! It's kind of neat when we import plants and yet local arachnid camouflage still works fine. /Mike. Awesome caterpillar! He looks about ready for a hookah. We saw a giant mantis roaming around on the front window of the pub last night and it looked so brilliant highlighted against the golden backdrop that I really should have taken a picture. I guess it was looking for prey, but it was a bit odd to see it in such an urban environment. Although I guess if they live on Quinn's ceiling that's evidence that they are city proof.

I found a $5 bill a couple of years ago when I was cleaning out my window wells (along with a piece of unopened mail for my neighbour). One day at the supermarket I found a "park card". It's like a credit card but for city meters so you don't have to carry change all the time. No way to ID that so I kept it for myself. There was about $20 on it. The most interesting thing I found was a journal with photos in a phone booth a couple of years ago. I was walking downtown with my niece taking photos and she was going to "pose" in the phone booth, pretending to talk on the phone. The journal was right there on the ledge. We took it home and read through it trying to find out who it belonged to. It turned out it belonged to a couple of young people who bicycled across the country from Vancouver, British Columbia to St. John's, Newfoundland. I googled their names and found their website. From that I got their email and emailed them telling them I found their journal and asked for their mailing address. I mailed it back to them but never heard a thing from them, I suppose they got it. Would have been nice for them to say thanks, after all I did spend about $10 to mail it to them.
