If you can stand it, remove and crush the beetles. They leave a trail for other beetles to visit so you should look in the same places for infestation. You could carry a container with soapy water and place them in that. I've found that the catbirds and other birds eat the beetles I've crushed and left on the ground. The beetles particularly like certain plants. If those plants are grown in afternoon sun, they will attract more beetles than those growing in a shady site in afternoon when beetles are the most active. Roses, azaleas, crape myrtle, Oenothera, Gaura and some Clematis attract them here.

Research "pill bug" (Armadillidiidae vulgare). They are not an insect (they have way more than 6 legs), but are a crustacean. They eat a wide variety of plant and decaying matter. Hard to say if they are eating outside and nesting inside your home; check the laundry area for any food source, even mold.

That's a sharpshooter/leaf hopper. You can read more about them here. They usually don't do any serious damage to plants, but they do feed on sap from stems. They can contribute to powdery mildew as they excrete excess liquid as they feed. If you've ever been underneath a tree/bush and felt "raindrops" when it isn't raining, it's from these guys.

So far not much progress. Tried to catch some J. beetles early morning on the raspberry shrubs, but there were none to find. Then I sprayed the raspberries, squashes, and sunflowers with insecticidal soap and neem oil which supposedly works on both our cucumber beetles and now also Japanese beetles. But I think that has been a waste of time, (it does kill aphids though on my petunias and geraniums). Around 1 p.m. I found a bunch of both types of beetles munching on our squashes and sunflowers. The yellow bowls with soapy water do catch some cuc beetles, but most congregate now inside the yellow squash flowers. When I try to remove the cuc beetles manually from there, I tend to also damage the flowers. Removing them with tweezers is less damaging but tedious and back breaking. As to the Jap. Beetles, I can't get myself to handle them, unfortunately. My husband collected some, said they bite. Will get some traps for the J. Beetles today. I will have to spray the milky spores in a few months, that is certain. The big horse farm next to us is not going to do any of it though....nor other neigbors that are not into gardening. I can see why. My consolation is that I did exceptionally well growing garlic this year. Lettuce and kale are wonderful too.
