Need help IDing this hawk [link to pictures]

I found this dead hawk in the street near school and tried to donate it to the local museum, but they didn't want it. I thought it was a juvenile cooper's hawk, but the person at the museum looking at the pictures said it was a broad-wing hawk. I initially ruled out the broad-wing hawk because they are suppose to be uncommon here in Tallahassee during winter. Can anyone else shed some light on this

What do museum people know? The tail alone makes it not a Broad-winged; way too long. It's a juvie Cooper's.

Can't say what kind of hawk it is but it could be a young one that hasn't achieved adult coloration yet. Young hawks tend to be bolder than adults and that may be why you could get so close. He may also have been invading the redtail's territory and that's why they were so upset. Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I was sitting at my kitchen table when I heard the birds call out and scatter in every direction. I was able to take pictures through my kitchen window of the hawk as he narrowed in on his prey. One of the cardinals hit the window and landed underneath the deck furniture.

Quacker4duck, it was a clear day. When the hawk flew, I tried to track it. That is in the foreground and is either a blurred branch or part of the car! But it does look somewhat ominous. . .
