I cannot begin to express my appreciation. That so many people would take the time to try and help and stranger and his budding passion for growing fruit bodes well for you all and for this site...its thrilling to have such a resource since I'm so inexperienced. I also agree with what many of you politely tried to say...I need to educate myself on growing fruit beyond just asking questions in a forum...and I will. But right now I've got several (expensive) fruit trees in trouble! SOunds like their is no magic bullit for all my trees, but perhaps the "One and Done" would be a good start. For the record, Imidaclorpid is what i put on the roots and it did say for fruit trees, though I do appreciate the warnings. Oh....Im in northern middle TN...zone 7 but not far from zone 6 on the 2012 map. Any other spedcific recommendations for my peach problem would be appreciation until I have time to do more extensive research.....again, my peaches are golf ball size but are dropping off in large numbers and when I cut them open there is alwasy a little larvea looking "worm" that looks like a maggot. Anything I can do for that? Again, thanks for all your help! You have no idea how fired up I am about my little mini-orchard! ha. It was one of the reasons I wanted to buy a place in the country with some land. Eventually I hope to fill about a full acre of my new place with fruit, but obviously I need to learn a lot before that. My current (approx) 25 assorted trees aren't doing to well yet, so I need to get them under control first. Again, thanks for all your help!

I hate to be the basis for any decisions about the effectiveness of Triazicide, so I want to follow up. Most of my peach trees seem to have good, pest-free peaches on them so I think overall the Triazicide was effective for me. However, on my one old, large tree, it clearly failed me. I know it may not make sense that it would work on some trees and not others, but its a fact. It is true that I probably didn't get good coverage on the top half of my one large peach tree. However, I did spray the bottom half to the point of run-off every 10 days and peaches on that lower half all do have OFM. Thanks to the comments above, I'm now more sure than ever that my pests are in fact OFM. Anyway, overall I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made this year thanks to all of you. Not only because it looks like I'm going to have quite a few peaches on my 3-year old trees, but I've also noticed another major change. Last year, the tips of all my peach trees kept dying all the time....I understand that was probably OFM too? This year I haven't had a single tip die on any tree except the big old one. I just wanted to clarify before Olpea and others develop major doubts about Triazicide using my experience as the basis for that decision (though apparently there have been others). It seems to have failed me on one tree but done its job on others. If you accept my assertion that I really did get good, constant coverage of the lower half of the one tree that it failed me on, then I know it makes little sense...but its true!

Unless its very young lady bug larvae it doesn't look like any of the pictures i've looked up. I had my windows open over the weekend and a dozen lady bugs flew in.. what luck! I put several on the plants to see if they would go for them. I wish I had a macro lens so I could get closer and stay in focus. Comparitively I have a picture of a lady bug on the plant at the same focal range so you can see the difference in size. I think i've read somewhere about spraying it with dilluted dawn dish soap? What are the ratios for that? It doesn't have many leaves yet and I'd like to keep as many possible to keep the roots growing in the new pot.

Just bumping this up to add a plea - any other information here? I don't mind pill bugs in general. They are good for the bin, they don't squick me out when I open the bin or anything. But I have THOUSANDS of them. THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS. And they don't stay IN the bin. My bin is in a guest room closet. For the last few months everytime I go into the room for something there are a few hundred dead pill bugs all over the floor of the entire room. Yuck! My boyfriend is moving in here with me in a week. I have got to get the damn bug population down, or the worms are going to get banashed outside and they will never live through a South Florida summer. Can anyone assist? More water? Less water? More acid? Less acid? Anything to just get the population down to managable numbers? Help? --Lisa
