I know, I am very dissapointed in my camera - I cannot take any closer shots, it gets blurry. But, update -- I kept all these eggs on the leaves in a zip lock bag sealed, and yesterday I saw that the up-right eggs (yellow) have hatched! How can they hatch in a sealed environment?? Anyway, they look like red body bugs with lots of legs, not sure yet if they are lady bugs. There are no distinct spots on their red bodies, the body is not perfectly round, more dimond shaped. The shiny copper eggs seem to be drying out so I might never find out what they are. There is also some tiny black particles in the bag - maybe, just maybe, those bugs p-o-o-p?

No, but I have also noticed they are not much of a problem. They do chew small holes but there are not many of them most of the time to do a lot of damage. I am currently having a problem with cucumber beetles. They ruined much of my squash and cukes last year, and this year I see a few, but not as many. They are on my ground cherry plants. I actually had to break down and apply some sevin dust..(ugh, shuttering at the though)..but nothing else seems to work. I have tried Neem oil and that does not work well.

Size, color, location where found (not the City, but the its environment). If you still have this insect, and it's still alive, how about a brighter, focused image?

Your insect in the pictures is a Soldier Beetle, perhaps in the genus Polemius. These beetles feed on other insects, nectar, and pollen, they do not chew leaves. The damage to those leaves could be from a variety of other insects; try checking at night also.
