Suction Cups that Stick

I sitby a window, and would love to have some birds near to me while I type. I've hung thistle socks from a suction cup, and the chickadees love this.

Unfortunately, the cups pop off, especially in sub zero weather. In fact, right now, I can't get one to stick.

I've tried dollar stores (terrible), and aquarium stores, okay, but come winter, off they go (or before), so if anyone knows where I can get a reliable suction cup, I would love to know.

Instead of a suction cup, go to your local hardware or box store - usually this time of year they sell the magnetic wreath holders (a large magnet is placed on each side of the glass).

Don't know where you are located, but I find mine at Menards.

Look up magnetic window wreath holders or magnetic hook on the internet if you can't find them locally.

I have these on my full glass storm door where I hang my wreath in the wintertime. Works like a charm.

Thanks so much. I didn't even know that such a thing existed. Now that I know, I'm sure I'll manage to find them somewhere, and I can't wait to get my window thistle sock hung up again.

After a little looking around, I found a number of these type of fixtures. For example, Price Pfister makes one called a "Drilless Slide Bar Volume Control Shower Faucet with Hand Shower". "Drilless" is the key. I saw similar fixtures from American Standard, Waterpik, Peerless and others. The instructions for one reads as follows: The slide bar can be mounted using the preassembled suction cup or by using the optional adhesive pad. The suction cup can only be used on smooth, flat surfaces. If your shower wall has a rough surface, or if there is a grout line present, then you will need to use the adhesive pad. Note: Some tub-surrounds will appear to have a smooth, flat surface, but will actually have a light texture that is not noticeable at first. If this is the case, it will prevent the suction cup from maintaining a hold, and you will need to use the adhesive pad. To remove the suction cup from the slide bar, rotate suction cup counter clockwise (while suction cup is facing you), and then thread on the adhesive pad. Did you have the optional adhesive pad? I have not seen or used this system, but would not trust a suction cup to hold anything up. Maybe a few little decorative spoons, but nothing more.

I told the cabinet maker I did NOT want a tip out (didn't like it in the last kitchen for reasons stated above) but he made one anyway. I didn't pay for it and still don't use it. I bought a suction cup thing but my fire clay sink is too irregular for the suction to hold. I balance the sponge on the flat vane between the 1/3 and 2/3 bowls. btw, I used to wring out the sponge after each use but then realized that more often than not, the next time I want the sponge is to do a fast hand wash on something. Now I leave soapy water in the sponge... so it's always cleaning itself and ready for the next wash up.
