I love a lot of trees, always liked the big Norway maples. I'll transplant it in January when it is dormant. Don't really have even an inch anywhere for another tree unless it likes very wet standing water -- not the Norway. But will look for a spot. Did plant a Weeping Crabapple, molten lava, but it's at the far end of the yard. Will have to transplant that newbie crabapple in January too. Wonder what type it is? But the hawthornes .... drats .... no place for them, will have to dig them up in January and sneak them somewhere to plant. THANK YOU FOR THE IDs !!!

Hey there, Gang! Our dark eyed Juncos showed up here in S. Wisconsin early this week (much to my surprise)! I took it as a sign that winter is on its way. I can always tell the Juncos from other birds because of the very dark back and that big, fat WHITE belly! In fact, my first winter I called them flying snowballs because I didn't yet know what they were called. I must confess that I never noticed the tail feathers, striped or otherwise. Ken, do you remember seeing the fat tummies on your mystery birds? Char

Helmeted Guineafowl as Tucker said. I have a flock that runs loose in my neighborhood during the daytime, stopping traffic and squawking loudly. I posted about it in this thread. They come in different colors, you show a darker type than the ones in my yard. Claire
