Keeping Grackles Away From Feeders

farmboy1

Earlier this year I put up the feeder in the attached photo (after cleaning, of course). It was filled with BOSS and corn and nuts, meant for larger birds as I already have tube feeders and thistle feeders, plus a couple of suet feeders.

As I have Cardinals and Blue Jays in the area, I was hoping to provide something for them and other larger birds..

Unfortunately, I got Grackles, too. Lots of noisy, rowdy Grackles, attracted by the new feeder. Once I took the feeder down, the Grackles went away.

So....as I would like to provide for my larger feathered friends this winter, any suggestions on reusing this feeder with different feed or another feeder that would work better?

Thanks!
