Stupid question regarding ordering seed!

I'm planning out my tomatoes for next year. I will still plant some of my Sungold F3's, but just out of curiousity.

I have specific (seed) varieties I want to get from 2-3 sources. Should I get them now? Will they be sold out come January?

My list includes at least 25 varieties, mostly heirlooms that are, from my research, very popular (which is why I picked some of them!).

I am planning on ordering from Mariseeds & TGS for the most part.

Also, as I only need a few seeds from each pack as I'm planning on 1-3 plants per variety, should I post on the seed exchange board for someone to go along with my 'ordered' seeds? While I'd like to find one person that wants to split the 25+ varieties (that I worked to really be specific!) of seeds with me, I dunno if that would ever happen!

e-mail me your list. I might already have them, or be willing to split with you. I grew out and sold over 65 varieties of mostly heirloom tomato plants, so I might have what you're looking for already, or want them if I don't have them.

I saw a thread in weeds one day this summer showing a pic and asking for an ID the question was ID ugently needed as my 4 yr old daughter ate some of it I also need to know if it is toxic as her life maybe in danger. If this question is not a stupid question it has to be a stupid action Today I won a prize ( from a unknown to me contest I have even yet to enter) as they say on the phone machine I won this "prize" DO I call the 1 800 number back that left this message at dinner time ? Stupid question about DWs with panel-ready doors

It probably depends on the maker. Every one I've seen comes without a front panel. You can use it. The works are enclosed enough, but it's machine cowling, not a finished panel. This is different from my panel ready warming drawer which came with a front panel and handle ready to be removed. My theory is that they don't sell enough panel ready for it to be worth running separate inventory, that it would cost more to do than the savings from the panels. So there might be some dishwashers like that. Regarding research, panel ready dishwashers tend to run on the high end, mostly because it's a low demand item, due to the extra work and expense panelling is. Still, they're the same dishwashers as the same model that comes with a panel. Perhaps you should choose a major maker, like KitchenAid or Miele, and look at what's available at what price for panel ready, and how much you could save getting a standard finish like stainless would save you. Small carpentry jobs can cost more than each piece of a larger job, but I'm guessing it would be a few hundred dollars plus materials from a good carpenter. Maybe a bit more if there's a minimum. Added to the higher end DW, it might not be for you with everything else that needs fixing. If it's insured at replacement cost, it might be worth a splurge. If you can salvage the old DW and at least give yourself some breathing room before you have to make yet another expensive decision, that would be best. Other possibilities: You can buy ready made dishwasher panels from cabinet companies, especially for integrated models. They do require installation, however. You could see if one was close enough. You could also just use a nicely finished piece of plywood, and stain it as close to your cabinets as you can, paint it with chalkboard and/or magnet paint, or bright red, or, if you're talented, trompe l'oeil paint a kitchen matching drawer stack and handles. Or you could wrap your plywood with sheet stainless or copper or something else interesting. You do need an installer who can fit and instal the custom panel no matter what. It requires being able to follow instructions, drill and use screws. They usually provide a template. Some appliance installers will attach a panel for you and many won't touch it, so it takes being a bit handy. Doing something like that, that you can do mostly yourself, and worrying about the carpenter down the road, is also a possibility if you think you'd be happy living with something different. I think some people writing on this thread have had bad experiences with the old-school "Badger" or "Builders Special" disposals. The disposals made today, that have 3/4 hp or 1 hp motors, and all stainless steel innards (and at higher price points in the $200-300 range), are a completely different animal. You can use them on septic systems. Also, Insinkerator has a disposal that is specifically for septic systems, the Evolution Septic Assist model. I have a Waste King 3/4 hp batch feed disposal. This thing is unbelievable. I regularly put chicken bones in it, corn cobs, all sorts of things. I have had it 4 years without a problem. Waste King offers a 10-year in-home warranty. There is no other item I know of, appliance, computer, even my car, that has that kind of warranty. Its manual specifically states what can be ground: "table scraps, peelings, rinds, seeds, pits, small bones and coffee grounds. Cut or break up large bones, rinds and cobs before disposing. It will NOT grind plastic, tin cans, bottle caps, glass, china, leather, cloth, rubber, string, clam and oyster shells, aluminum foil or feathers." If the manufacturer is going to offer that kind of warranty, with those instructions, they must be pretty confident about their product. Recently there was a This Old House episode where they visited the InSinkErator factory in Racine, WI. First they showed how they tested their disposals with the not-unexpected watermelon rinds, celery, etc. OK, fine. But then they tested the disposals with steer rib bones. Each disposal had to grind 35 lbs. of steer rib bones to pass the quality control test. Then the disposals had to grind 6 lbs. each of pine cubes. I believe they were testing the 3/4 hp or 1 hp models. I'm sure the Builders-Special-Badgers wouldn't pass that test. Furthermore, the InSinkErator rep said that the steer bones are actually good for the disposals--they help clean out the stationary grind ring which makes it more efficient. Thank you.. Not too nosy, since I mention it plenty of times, here and there.. I was born in Kiev, Ukraine, the former Soviet Union.. as much as I felt I've moved on-we left when I was 18..this Maidan revolution in 2014 and everything that's followed was hard on me..you see, my childhood home overlooked Maidan( that was of course called differently, and I must say looked much much nicer then..it's like these urban planners compete how to make it uglier, really)..anyway when you see the place you were born, saw from your window, walked every day.. place that was your home..burning..you suddenly understand that you didn't move too far.. and no, you can't predict, until something like this happens. I really thought it's part of me, of my past, integral part, but not a home anymore. Israel is my home. we moved to Israel.. I spent there many years..then my ex got transferred here..I was hysterical and didn't want to go yet I went..very young kids, family..you know.. then they transferred us back I was so happy still wasn't a walk in the rose garden..as much as my previous employers loved me-they didn't hold space for me..:) so looking for new job and all that..you do start again, even if you left for some time and went back you still adjust. even when everything around you spells home. And Israel has this thing about it..you change, it changes, yet it's the only place on Earth that gives meaning to me being there, besides just being with the people I love anywhere else I won't say it's a Garden of Eden, yes? it can be downright scary..the bombings and all-I wasn't there(actually came to take care of my Mom, also in 2014- but they didn't get to Haifa then..was too far for their missiles..)..but I lived in Jerusalem through two intifadas..you understand that every day is a dying day(c)..yet you know..you continue..because -where else? and you have to stay human. there are two sorts of death, right? This is a very strange, magical place. People go crazy there. We even have "The Jerusalem Syndrome"..:) that some tourists get..need to be send to a hospital for some time, take meds you know..they start thinking they are Messiahs.. It's too old and seen it all. Jerusalem I mean. It doesn't care about you. And the sky is amazingly high there. But you can't stop caring about it. When I'm in Israel and it so happens I didn't go to Jerusalem-I feel I didn't fully go.. so.. sorry about the big lyrical off top..when my ex's bosses decided to send us here again I was very sad but less panicky..I thought "ok they're going to send us back again, as they did the first time" and then everything unfolded differently so..as they say in Russian fairy tales "for longer for shorter"..for now I'm here, and listen, I love it too. It's been many years already..I lived on two coasts..I think 7 years(altogether) on the East, and probably 7 on the West? goodness..time really flies I love West Coast much more first, it reminds me of Israel. The sky is high here too..:) and other things second, I'm plainly happier. on some important accounts but I will always want to go back If somebody translated Joseph Brodsky's poem(no.. he never been to Israel and never wanted to, and didn't feel any connection as per his interviews.. but since he was a genius poet he just knew certain things I guess...that's a poem about a desert)..in short if I find a good translation-I'll post it..the link I mean ok..that was really long..:)

I've been doing some seed buying/trading already so no, I don't think it is too soon.

They will keep, stored in the fridge for a year easily - in the freezer for years longer. If you can't find someone to share, just put the ones you don't use in a tupperware container (in their paper packet of course) and keep them till the year after in the freezer. ;)

Some years ago, I came across a great offer in a gardening catalog. Speciman vials! I store the seeds in them (opened in the fridge overnight for very low humidity) them sealed. I keep the vials in the basement (about 60F). They seal tightly, are very reusable, and convenient to store (I keep them in a plywood tray with tight-fitting holes drilled in it).

But aside from that, I have just received seeds of Aunt Gertie's Gold from TGS and will be receiving seeds of Brandywine/Suddith/Quinsberry and Tennessee Britches from Victory Seeds next week. I would be glad to trade 6 seeds each for other varieties of interesting heirlooms. Have Cherokee Purple, Prudens Purple, and Caspian Pink (but not enough to trade). So if you have something else, would be willing to give trading a try... :)

Ok, because someone asked, below is the list. And I apologize for this long post - I thought it might help to know where I am & what I want.
I do plan on buying/locating seed soon. If you have seed to sell/give/trade, let me know. I only have Black Krim, Black Cherry and Amish Paste. Also some F3 Sungold mutts. Have a few hornworms I can throw in as well. :)

I live in Sacramento so the summers are long, hot & without rain. No problems with BER. Found out this year that hornworms will also eat eggplant, tomatillo & your fav. pepper plants (hey - I'm sorta new to the gardening thing!).

Most of the tomatoes I had this year were from HD & started in 5gal containers & moved to homemade earthboxes in late June due to the plants wilting too much. Next year I plan on using the 12 'boxes again in my backyard, probably for the cherry & paste toms. In addition I have access to a field at the farm where I keep my horse. While space obviously isn't an issue next year, I don't have a need to grow 20 plants of each variety. :)

I never even thought I liked tomatoes until I planted a Sungold last year. This year Black Cherry & Black Krim won me over. I'm really expanding next year. I'm not looking for big or just pretty tomatoes. I want sweet, complex, juicy & colorful tomatoes. So here is the list - if you have seed to share I would love that. Let it be known that I wasted hours of my employer's time researching this list. ;)
