is a panel-ready DW without panel possible?
Comments (8)Sort of gooster - there is adjustment, but.......... The range still factors having weight (of a panel) on the door. I'm not positive on Bosch, but Miele's won't zero out unless you remove the springs which would be a real pain and more expensive than buying a piece of scrap plywood. Sure, lots of things could work instead of a panel: Duct tape, magnets, glue and bailing wire, chewing gum, one of those suction handles marketed to elderly people that you see on late nite TV, a bin pull with surface mount screws, and on and on. Point is - none of them (Bosch included) is DESIGNED to be used with out a panel installed. Really, are most people buying a $1000+ integrated DW so strapped for time and cash that they cant go down to the homecenter and pick up a piece of wood ?...See MorePanel ready Bosch DW--how to know "special" circumstances?
Comments (6)You really need to measure the width of your opening left in your cabinets for the DW. We did the opposite. We ordered the 23-5/8" panel and then made sure everything around it fit correctly - so it goes refrigerator - T shaped panel to support counter over dishwasher - dishwasher (with 1/8" clearance on each side of the door) - 6" cabinet - sink - trash - cooktop - condiment pullout - filler. The filler was "customized" to fit the remaining space. Note the panel to hold up the counter over the dishwasher. You need that too - the dishwasher itself can't support a stone counter....See Morequestion on using panel ready bosch 800 dishwasher without panel
Comments (6)There are adjustment screws for the door panel located in the front, by the feet (look at the install manual). You can temporarily loosen the tension, and then tighten again when the panel is applied. It should be in your install kit. Otherwise, as Whit461 points out, it will not stay down properly. You can probably just use some colored plastic with velcro strips if the grey color disturbs you, or you can order a stainless panel from Bosch (their web site sells parts and accessories directly)....See MorePanel-ready DW--European model better because it's flush--true??
Comments (12)Thanks to all. My space is 24" x 24", and when looking at it I realize that my current KA does protrude. Since it is just a standard model, not a paneled, I don't mind that much. But, I can see how it might be an issue with the panel-ready. 1929 Spanish--Lovely kitchen! I assume your dishwasher is to the left of the sink under the pumpkin. You say it protrudes a bit, but I can't tell from this perspective. Out of curiosity, what does the side look like where you can see it? Kompy--Great kitchen design! I also looked at the Asko dishwashers today at the store and would love some feedback on the brand from you since you are on your third one. Do you know which model you have? Is it the one with the three racks inside? Is it a lower or mid or higher level model?...See Morejulieste
