Can someone identify this bird?

For the past couple of weeks, I've had a little visitor that sleeps on a ledge underneath my back door awning. It's always gone in the morning, and I've never caught it landing or taking off. This is the view I always see. Any thoughts on what it might be?

It didn't build the nest, which is an abandoned, half-done nest started by some house sparrows this Spring.

May be a Carolina Wren.

Definately a coopers hawk. I say so because of the rounded out tail, the largish head, and the fact that you say it is relatively large. The only other possible bird would be a sharp shinned hawk, but that bird can be elliminated by the above reasons. It also has quite a dark cap. Nathan

Central western NSW. These things have been in plague proportions for the last two yesrs. I haven't had the heart to wake it up to take a better picture. I've never seen it's head, it's always curled up when I see it. I'll have to keep looking.

It's a Caroline Wren. I have two that sleep in an empty light socket on my covered deck during the winter
