Birds to expect in CA Central Valley

spammie5

I've temporarily moved to the central valley in CA while my husband works. We've just rented a house on the edge of town and with orchards on about 3 sides, there are a lot of birds! I've just put up feeders with seed, suet and thistle and haven't had visitors yet, but I know my neighbor has active feeders so hopefully they'll find mine soon.

What birds can I expect to see? I see lots of small, grayish birds with dark or black heads feeding on the ground and in nearby plum trees. They don't look like bushtits - maybe juncos? I've also seen Stellar Jays, Cassin's Kingbirds, woodpeckers and lots of hawks as well as others I haven't been able to identify yet. Also, any feeding tips for this area?
