Pine Warbler? From March 2009, Pine Warbler

Thanks! DuBois was pointing out how large and colorful the birds look in the cropped photos, but as anyone knows who tries it, just finding these tiny, fast moving gems in the tree canopy isn't easy, much less getting close enough for a photo with my 400mm lens. Thank Heavens for the Canon EOS 40D .6 crop ratio! Even tho I posted a few of the best pics, what isn't seen is the 200 blurry photos taken yesterday that were deleted (LOVE digital cameras). Also not mentioned is time spent scoping out birds in the rain by ear to locate their territories, then crawling in the leaves, ticks, dirt, brush to get 100s of mostly blurry photos from attempts to manually focus through branches. This task becomes almost impossible, given the limitations of the Canon 40D-not to mention my own eyesight-once the leaves fully open and the woods close in with darkness. I know people like Mark Eden, Bob, and Jeanner make it look easy, but I don't take their photos for granted!

Love your photos Frank! I have no idea on the ID's though. Someone here will definitely know. I am horrible with Warbler ID's. I never have any Warblers in my yard, and maybe that is why I am clueless! :o) The one exception is that I had some Tennessee Warblers come through my yard in October of last year and land in my Weeping Cherry tree. I only know that they were Tennessees because I posted them here for ID. It is interesting to me that their plumage changes so much with the seasons. Here is my pic in case you'd want to see it. I was told that this is fall plumage for the Tennessees. I sure wish that I had them in the yard often. Congrats to you!!

I'm thinking Golden Cheeked Warbler. I am no photographer that's for sure and he is pretty quick. He has been coming to our pond for about 3 years. Now that I have a new camera I though I might get a picture because I hear they are supposed to be pretty rare.
