Another Day, Another Feeder

Hi folks,

Got back from a week on Cape Cod having seen some birds we had never seen (osprey, barn swallow). Got settled back home and filled the tube feeder.

Then turned to see our (brand new) upside down suet feeder on the other pole - with the entire bottom of it gone, and toothmarks all around one side. And the pole it hangs on a lot looser from our deck. No sign of the missing feeder bottom.

The animal that took away part of the feeder had to have been fairly heavy to have loosened that pole, it was attached pretty tightly to our deck. I'm thinking it was a raccoon. Could a squirrel have done something like this? I know how notorious squirrels are for wrecking things.

Any thoughts?
