I live in W. Pennsylvania. One year, we decided to have a fall camp-out at a camping facility up near I-80, way north of Pittsburgh. The weather was forecast to be nice, we invited a bunch of our camping friends, and on the appointed day, we went!
Well! The only family that showed was my Cousin, Edie and her husband! All of our kids were grown up by then, so it was us four!
The first frodt had already happened up there, and the leaves were falling. We had a nice camp-fire on Friday night, and went to bed fully of treats and food!
Next morning, we found an apple tree that still had some mighty fine apples hanging on it! The ladies decided, if us guys would pick some apples, they'd make a pie for us.
So, out we went to pick apples. After getting the required amount, the ladies started on the pie.
And then the fun started! and the questions! How do we roll out the pie dough?? Why, you use that whiskey bottle in the cupboard! And, where can we get some cinnamon? (We asked the camp owners if they had cinnamon )(No), and the one other camper there, but they didn't have any either!
SOOO--a good dollop of the whiskey gave the pie the necessary bite! And it turned out very good! And we'll never forget that good pie, made in the fall, outdoors mostly! Oh, we baked it in our motor-home oven, but the prep work was done outside on the picnic table!

It's never too late...but you're right about the adventure part. Early Spring or late Fall, the cold and the snow can make things interesting. Just need good sleeping bags and plenty of firewood...and a good rolling pin (or two)? Oh, well, you know what I mean.

Gets dark too early for me! About 15 minutes after I get home from work it's pitch dark and I'm an outdoor gal.
Really, I wish they'd just leave it alone for Pete's sake.
(Who was Pete anyway?)

Have one more trip reserved for Thanksgiving, as usual. It's a nice time of year and not many people in the campgrounds. I guess most folks have had enough of the camping season by then. I've already bought my firewood for the trip, put flannel sheets in the camper and some winter clothes in the closet (hoodies and such). Bought some of those little stretch gloves too. They are warm and you still have a lot of dexterity too for picking up firewood, using a camera, or whatever.

I'm looking forward to that last outing.

Sure, go for it! One more outing! Dress warm, enjoy the warmth of the fire!

Clocks setting back reminded me.... Years ago, I was rushing around to attend church on time. I usually squeak into church a little late... getting some self righteous glares from folks who are more "regular?" Anyway, this particular Sunday was the day to set the clocks back.
It was 1981. I arrived at what I thought was five minutes late and was drawing my tie up to strangulation mode ready to quietly sneak into one of the back pues...Only to be greeted by the minister who said, "Well well well...look who's joined us for Sunday SChool this morning.... Yup!
I got there an hour early, attended Sunday school, and looked like I was in a huge hurry to get there, too!!

Arizona doesn't observe time zone changes.... You see, they have the giant chasm called the Grand Canyon. If you told all those Euro tourists that crowd the rims to
"SPRING FORWARD" or "FALL BACK" there would be a terrible loss of life. There is a potential of lawsuits here. So, Arizona doesn't want to take that liability.
They do NOT Spring forward or Fall Back in Arizona.... ;)
