Hi all, Just wanted to add that we had a catbird last summer who practically became our mascot. He was here every day, would let me walk right past him and didn't move, we made eye contact and he just watched me walk by. So funny! He spent his time on a fruit and jelly feeder I got, with a roof over it and a cup that drops in the floor of the feeder and a spike for fruit on either side, which I used for orange slices. It is a great feeder, well worth the money. I put an oriole feeder out last summer and only hummingbirds visited it. I only put nectar in it, no fruit, so thanks to reading all your posts I will know to put fruit on that this summer too.

looks like baltimore orioles? i have lots of Bullocks orioles but not rain just cold nights The males have been fighting for a couple weeks and the females are just starting to show up. They should be nesting here in the next week or so. i made a grocery run this morning and got several large jars of grape jelly and a bag of oranges

i have 5 to 6 pairs of Bullocks orioles nest around me every year. and they have anywhere from 3 to 5 babys for each pair. towards the end of July the males started leaving and are all gone. over the last 3 weeks i had anywhere from 5 adults females and about 20 fedglings coming and going from the necter feeders and the jelly dishes from sunup to sundown. but this week the numbers are going down each day. today i only had a group of four in and out. Mine are usually all gone by the first of Sept. but in late april the males start coming back and by mid may the females.
