It has been an unusual spring and summer around these parts for campers, that's for sure; and in my case fishing is also a part of that camping. The high water has put a crimp on the stream fishing, first off, getting into the water to wade and fly fish. It has put me at a loss to figure out the old fishing holes and so far the catch has been way down.

Since I sold the popup camper and am back to the tent - Rain and more rain certainly are not a tenter's best best choice, fish or no fish!. But one good thing that I have come up with this season has been a plywood floor for under the tent which helps make tenting much more pleasant, especially when there's water!

Campers and Rain? Ha.....Goes hand in hand.

Went camping a few weeks back in Bethel, NY and I think it was the first time we went camping and skies did NOT precipitate in one form or another. The kids are now upper teenagers. I hope we continue to participate in this most enjoyable activity.....Elliot

It has rained on most of my camping trips too! It was a joke at work with everyone teasing me about it. After a four day trip I found an umbrella waiting for me on my desk. The guy who left it for me poked his head around my door and said "It's for your next camping trip".

My hubby took a teasing at his job too. One guy told him "You must be going camping this weekend". He asked why he thought that and the guy said "Because it's supposed to rain cats and dogs".

Anyway, I hope we all get to camp for many more years to come, rain or shine.

We always take our readers with lots of book loaded when we go camping, just in case.

If all goes well this Spring, and i can get a cap for my pickup, that doesn't weigh a ton, i might get out to camp some!
Some wag asked me how i get to the camp ground--who drives me there, at my age! (90) I told him i load the truck, fill the tank, and go! Of course, i take food, beer, blankets--all that stuff, and not necessarily in that order. And, i don't forget the banjo! I bought a newer pickup, since the old Ranger was getting "long in the tooth"! Have to build a cap for it, or find a used one for a good price. Now that the wife has passed on, i have a lot of free time. I really miss her! But, she thought cigarettes were good for her--not! And wouldn't quit!
I thought the web site had done away with the camping section, but happily i find it is still here. Maybe some of the other older members will check in! Rusty Jones
