The worst you have seen on the TV. One tornado that tracked 300 something miles hit Tuskaloosa, Birmingham, and Rome Georgia. Most of North Alabama is without power except for the very west counties. Huntsville government is encouraging it's residents to get out of town and stay with friends and relative in places that have power. No power, no can pump gas and no can do electronic banking. The ones who don't want to leave or can't leave are driving to places that have power. Rogersville is one of the places that do. There are three gas stations in town. One has already run out of gas. The two others have lines. The wait is not too long, 15 minutes at most. They are also picking up supplies from the local businesses. Food, water, sundries and camping supplies. Most all have been done in a orderly, well mannered way. But one can see the damage the tornado has done in the eyes of these people. Power won't be restored in less than 4 or 5 days minimum, and in some places predicted it will take 2 weeks. I probably won't have to be back at work until next Tuesday or Wednesday. It will depend on when the power is restored at school. The main reason that power is out is that the main transmission lines that come from the nuclear plant were knocked down. The plant took no damage to its main buildings. My brother was at work that evening leading the teams that shut down all three reactors. They won't be brought back on line until the transmission lines are repaired. Understandably, people are nervous after what happened to Japan.

Came through ok here as well. Minor damage from winds, couple small trees down, some large limbs down are common. Winds only gusted up to around 50MPH here during heavy rain bands. Only knocked over my 5' windmill in its pot, but no damage. Bananas got a bit of shred, but not real bad. The water came up to the drain tops here, and moved up in the toilet some, but nothing like we saw before. We had sandbagged and prepared yesterday. IT figures we didnt flood. I would put money on it if we had not had the sand bags ready, we would have flooded massively. Just how things go it seems. LOL! Cute citty Jonnieb. I found my cat the night after Isabel went thru. I was helping my friend move into his new house in columbia heights, and i saw this tiny little dot in the yard. Just a couple ears sticking up. I approached but he ran away, but kept coming back, we put water in ice cube trays for him ( its all we had at the time) and he would come and drink, but was very skittish. I finally got him, no mother be found anywhere, no cat calling, nothing. We think his mother may have perished during the storm / flooding. He was flea ridden and terribly imaciated, just skin and bones really. I took him home that night, and took him to the vet the following week. At that point we did not know he was a boy, so I named him Isabel, after the storm. At the vet, the vet said to me.. well, Isable, IS A BOY! LOL! I had to bottle feed him with an eye dropper for a couple weeks. He weighed a whopping 6 ounces and completely fit in the palm of my hand, tail and all. The vet said he was likely the runt, and he was barely 4 weeks old. Hes now 5 years old as of the last week in august, and is a happy, healthy, but lean, and smaller house cat. Hes got the most beautiful ocean green eyes. Hes still got that "WILD" in him tho. He was after all a wild ferral city kitty. Heres a couple of pics of him.

You can have a bad experience with any company large or small or have a good one just as equally. Legwork and checking the credibility (referrals, BBB, C of C, vendors, service providers etc..) of your potential builder will go a long long way in giving you a better shot at a good company. The best men in the industry are positioned right where top50 was (middle of the pack pricing and great credibility) during this quotation. You don't always end up with the best pool when you drop the most coin, you just dropped more money. But, when a potential builder is way less than the other competitors you can rest assured that you won't. See ya, Kelly

The sales person has gotten it wrong...but I can see his "angle" or methodology. What has probably happened is someone purchased/installed a floating vinyl floor for a main floor without paying for the subfloor prep (sales person didn't write it into the contract for fear of scaring away the client). The subfloor was not flat enough and the click edges had a problem (which will happen with any vinyl click system if given half the chance). In a basement, that same product would have the same problems if the subfloor isn't flat. Again, it isn't the product that has the problem...it is the lack of prep for the subfloor. The sales person has probably seen a decent subfloor that was properly prepped that did NOT have issues with the click edge...and then drew the wrong conclusion. I would say this particular sales person has had a particular event and has misinterpreted the results. S/he felt the problem was the click edge...when it fact it was lack of "flatness" in the subfloor. And technically, a laminate edge (because laminate can be 2-3 times THICKER) is a little tougher and a little more forgiving. Again, this sales person has made assumptions due to some experience and then misinterpreted what that would mean for your situation.
