Salesperson told us not to put down Vinyl Plank on main/second floors

So I was in a small showroom that sells flooring, and the salesperson told me that he does not recommend vinyl planks for a main or second floor. He said that the very small connectors to click the pieces together can break if it is over a subfloor that could eventually warp, and thus only recommends vinyl planks for a basement where it would be placed over concrete. For main floors he said the sturdier and thicker connecting parts of the laminate flooring was better.

I had never heard that before. Is that actually an issue? Is this guy simply not knowledgeable? Or perhaps they sell an inferior LVP product (sounded like it was their own line of product from a factory in China).
