For the first time ever, I have this juvenile crossbill coming to my feeder. I have never had adults come. They are more prevalent here in the winter and I am kind of on the fringe of their area all year round. However, I've never seen them in my yard before today. He discovered my BOSS feeder and has been here a number of times. I wonder where the adults are? Was pretty excited to see him. They have quite the beaks and feet and the coloring is so different from the adults. The adult male is pinkish red and the adult female is olive yellow. I guess that's where the juvenile gets the olive yellow coloring amongst all that streaking.
