Beck_wi, I had all of mine sitting in an area outside my living room to the back of my house. It is an area that gets morning sun, and indirect sun in the afternoon. So they didnt dry out too bad. I have had to water mine about three times since initial wetting when I sowed. I just took a water hose and tried to spray into jugs gently. I know some bottom water. I know one lady who uses a child size swimming pool to bottom water. As for the baggy method, i dont know if you mean to germinate seeds or using baggies as a container for winter sow. I uses bags to germinate sometimes. I dampen a paper towel, place seeds on it, fold up loosly and seal in a ziplock bag. heck regularly for germination. This is good to check old seeds or check percentage of germination. I have not used bags for W/S but with a search you can find lots of info. Just have fun. Tammy

There's the rub...the gene (s) which are supposed to permit the formation of delphinidin, the blue pigment, is/are patented. IF you raise a rose containing them without permission and without paying for the "right", you are in violation of patent law and subject to litigation. Think Monsanto with their GMO products and the numerous litigation cases they've brought against people who have raised crops containing their inserted genes, deliberately or not. Even containing that gene, there is no guarantee of the expression of "blue". I honestly wouldn't put it past them to have bred in sterility as they have in the "suicide crops" already generated to prevent farmers from saving seed from one year's crop for the next. Brazil is currently considering whether to permit those seeds from being sold within their borders. The "suicide crops" supposedly create workable products the first generation, but seed from that generation are sterile, preventing further crops from being generated from them. That requires anyone wishing to raise the product to buy new seed from Monsanto every year. Kim

Lots of warblers passing through this time of year, and many in good spring/breeding coloration, too. American Redstart (or as I call him, American Orangestart. And I call the female American yellowstart! There ain't any red on either of 'em!) Black & White Warbler: Blackpoll Warbler: At first glance, you might confuse the Black & White with the Blackpoll, but the B&W is much "stripier" looking with a zebra-striped head, and the blackpoll has a black...poll. (Poll means head). The truly beautiful Yellow-throated Warbler: Not to be confused with the Common Yellowthroat, also a warbler, and one which stays in Florida all year. Look for this guy in brush alongside ditches, and along the edgees of canals and streams. I see them often when birding BlackPoint Drive on Merritt Island. And one of the very prettiest (the picture doesn't do him justice), the Black-throated Green Warbler. While the green is only on the head and upper back, it's quite visible and brighter than you would think, and of course, there is the black throat. You would think this one would be called the Orange-throated Warbler, but it is really the Blackburnian Warbler. And the Northern Parula (pronounced "pair-YOO-la") which is easily spotted in the spring, but which is one of the warblers that actually nests in central Florida, as well as parts farther north. These are just a very few of the colorful warblers who migrate through Florida every spring. As a side note, they really shouldn't be called "warblers" at all, since that makes it sound like they are good singers. Most aren't. But they ARE very beautiful, and it is always fun to see them. Keep your eyes open this time of year, and you might get a few surprises. And btw, they are chiefly insect eaters, so won't likely go to any feeders, but they DO go to birdbaths. Keep plenty of water around to attract them. Marcia
