Ok, Winter? Spring? Summer? Fall?

what is your favorite season?

Or, comment on all seasons...

Favorite? Summer! Ahhh... Sunshine on my shoulders.

(of course with proper slathering of sun-bloc)

I crave sunshine. And, where I live, summer has the most of it.

Spring? aa-aa-aaaachooo... where's the Alegra?

Fall? Nice, but out here in the high desert, only a few colors to look at. Not like back east where it was beautiful.

Winter? Yuck! Rain, cool weather, mud, stark, lonely...

except for the occasional trip up to snow country, yuck!

winter-- yuck! If it wasn't for winter I would move further north! Maybe I'll be a snow bird when I retire!

spring-- I love it! Everything comes alive again. Warmth but not hot and not a lot of humidity. Zyrtec controls the allergies for the most part. Probably my favorite south Jersey season!

summer -- generally my favorite season up north but too hot and muggy here. If I had to choose though this would be the season because I don't have to work in the summer unless I want to. I do only so I can spend the whole summer up in the northern woods and mountains. The weather up north is similar to our spring and fall here!

fall -- I like fall because after spending the summer up north it feels like my summer weather is being extended by several months. It feels like I have had very long summer weather for about three years now. When my friends are freezing it feels great and I have lost a lot of my tolerance for heat and humidity! Fall is beautiful and one of my favorite camping seasons. However, there is something depressing in knowing that winter is coming and it's a long stretch until spring!

This now is the time of year I feel most excited about camping and being outdoors! We had a great weekend camping this past weekend at Cape Henlopen in Delaware! I have two more trips planned this month and in another month or so I'm gone camping for the entire summer!

Fall, my fav, especially for camping. Sitting round a glowing fire with a hot drink, it just "feels right". Taking long walks in the early morning while it is still chilly outside and you need a sweatshirt, but it feels good, refreshing.
Summer, don't like it at all, too hot, too humid, too miserable
Winter, LOVE it when it snows and it looks so pretty, camping in winter is fun and the best time for quiet and privacy.
Spring, really nice, especially with the flowers and trees all ready to burst with greenery or color. Great for cabin fever and getting ready for the camping season.

ooops, I didn`t mean to cause a discussion. Just for complete information: I took the pic myself. They change the plants twice a year, and I always mean to count the amount of plants per square meter (or feet or something) and never get around to do it. I watch and admire tthis particular bed for three years now, since we moved to this area. About the soil: yes, they really go out of their way when preparing the bed. Last season they even changed the top soil, so everything was fluffy and perfect for planting. masses and colors: sure that I get a different result when playing around in 4 puny window boxes, using summer annuals. It`s just that I loved this light color scheme. The two from the previous years werent bad: one with orange, yellow something, the other pink, purple .... But this year`s just looked so ... light and freshly laundered and happy (well, positiv somehow). So this pic is just my source of inspiration and a way to have more fun when planing my next year`s planting. I will dig up more pics with other planting schemes of this bed, just some more eye candy for flower lovers... Well, enjoy your present summer flowers, bye, Lin

Hi Guys Don't forget the Roseo-Lineata is but a Nursery naming or a made up bit of describing their plant by a collector as it has no botanical or taxonomical meaning, in other words drop it from your label. Apparently it appears as though most of the variegated plants in the fulgens/miniata group are HYBRIDS, look to Ae. Reginald etc. Frankie I still have your plant in 2nd photo tagged as Ae. fulgens var. discolor variegated, that's the pinker of your 2 plants. That 2nd plant is also variegated not Albo. it has stripes in the leaf other than the white edges. Pinkbroms

Brad - Heartbeat of Heaven is new here, has gone through one winter, Regency Heights has been here many years, a real good one. Debra - Diviners Handbook is excellent, it is hardy, clumped up quickly, I have had it about five years. It was a single fan. It also has been moved once, in its third year. Sometimes the blooms did not open all the way initially. I gave a friend a single fan about three years ago and his clump is now larger than mine. His flowers have always opened just fine. When people visit him, they want Diviners Handbook, it is very showy in a clump, high bud count (see photo). Mine is still in quite a bit of shade, but opens fine now with maturity, my friend's plant is in open sun on a large hill. Almost everything I give him looks better there, lol. I live in the middle of a forest basically, and have alot of shade. My friend lives in open fields of farmland on top of a large hill. It makes a huge difference with alot of daylilies. I was told some time ago that Curt Hanson daylilies need the sun. It does appear to be the case with some of them.

Favorite first time bloomers this season

So hard to pick 3, but here goes #1 must be Bengali, I got 2 fans last fall, each fan bloomed, every bloom absolutely perfect, at least to my eyes. I could go out at 6 a.m. and the bloom be open and looking so nice. In person, the bloom is darker than my camera shows Claudine's Charm would be #2. I could have wished for more blooms, but the ones it had were beauties Jerry Hyatt arrived this spring, so I was pleased that it bloomed. It didn't have a lot of blooms, but I was so impressed
