Growing Tomatoes

So yummy I have no more socks!

OK, I just saved the seeds from my Jumbo Jim Orange (see previous firestorm about my BER seeds). So not to be wasteful, I cut off the end part and started eating the rest of the tomato--and it just blew my socks off, it was so sweet!!! Maybe because it was so stressed, or maybe because I stopped watering after I drowned it, or maybe it likes the heat here in Sac, but with my eyes closed, I almost thought I was eating a Sungold, only it was a beefsteak-sized Sungold!

Am I the only person on this board growing it this year?

People, if you like sweet tomatoes, PLEASE try this tomato next year, I want to start a club so we can revel together!

lol, I'm already a member of the Mortgage Lifter Club, the Belgium Giant Club, the Opalka Club, Yellow Brandywine Club (and a few more) don't see why another would hurt. :D

Zipper, thank you for the pats -- I needed that! bigack, you're going to have to keep looking! (don't put finding them on your bucket list!) Lydia, Your color must be perfect! They are a bit bright for me! They really aren't warm and in MN I need warm. Yes, I USE socks, but these really aren't comfy on my tender little tootsies. lol I can feel the yarn! If I remember, in the morning when my feet aren't swollen, I might snap a picture.

Yaya, sounds wonderful. May I take the liberty of suggesting an alternative that dispenses entirely with the butter and sugar and caramelizes like heaven without butter or sugar? Stick the cauliflower on a roasting pan on high heat, like 450 in the oven with either olive oil or cooking spray, for 15-20minutes and another 10 minutes or so on broil at the same temperature. Some onions to add sweetness to the caramelizing process. And take it out, sprinkle seasoning borrowed from any cuisine that catches your fancy, spray again, and stick it back in the oven for another 10 minutes or so on broil. Pure heaven! I've had friends, Southern belles, who would never dream of anything like loud sneezing, who are reduced to licking their plates. I hope you don't mind sharing my recipe.

It is just DH & Myself, and I buy the sox he likes, all in white and mine too. so don't have a problem with matching, when one gets a hole in it, it goes in a box till another one does, them match the survivors as a pair. I wish I could remember the name of a celeb, who said he figured he finally "made it" when he was rich enough to only have to wear a pair of sox only once. He could always put on a new pair. I just joined the Brandywine club. Not so much for the sweet flavor, but for the excellent texture.they are like silk. BTW, your socks blew over here,.... why are they different color? lol

Carla I am a believer. I will worship at your feet. you are my goddess of tomatoes. I hope you are saving some of those precious seeds for me. What can I offer you besides my undieing devotion and love for all of eternity for just a few tomato seeds. What a deal.

I do not like Brandywine. Terrible tomato. What a waste.

Remember Carla if I win in Burlington VT next year you get half the winnings. I will rename this tomato as Carla's Magic Tomato.
