It's been awhile!!!

Hi guys! It's been awhile since I've posted so I just wanted to say hello! It's been a rough winter, actually a rough year, and I haven't camped since I got home from my summer camping in Maine! I'm excited about going back again this year! My daughter is actually working in the campground this summer too so that ought to be interesting!

We're heading out camping next week at the shore for a few days! I can't wait! In fact, I have quite a few trips planned for the spring before we head out for the summer in June!

What are all of the rest of you up to? Dale, do you have any fly fishing trips planned? My campground is close to one of the best fly fishing places around! It's famous in the area but yet not easy to get to. Not a lot of fishermen! It's called the Rapid River and it's a few miles across the lake!

Lynda, are you working in the campground this summer?

Rusty, what are you up to these days? I've missed your stories!

Brianva, how about any road trips this year?

tplife, and others--- what camping trips are you up to?

And Dale, thank you so much for your words of wisdom.

JEN

Jen, sounds like a lot more going on with you than us, but the family and I are going to the shore, too, but the "western one" in Caspar Beach in late July. It's base camp for Mendocino wine country. What kind of flies does one encounter when fishing for cold adult beverages? : )

    Hi Jen,

It's good to see you online again. After 25 years on the same motorcycle (1980 BMW R100t) I've now had two in about two years. I loved the Honda ST1300, but on Christmas eve someone turned left in front of me at an intersection and totalled it in my first accident in 35 years. I'm now on a silver 2005 Honda Goldwing. So far this year I've been down to the southeast corner of SC twice. I may head down to Texas in May, and more definitely over to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in June. Both trips will be a mix of camping and motels.

Over the last year, the main changes in equipment are a Sierra Designs Sirius 3 tent which is lighter and more compact than the Eureka Timberline 4, and a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. The screen size is not ideal at 12 inches, but it is about half the packing size and weight of the old one, so a lot easier to carry with me on the motorcycle.

    Jen,
Hey, long time no chat!!! Hows it been going? You sound like you have been quite busy. I have been going go the campground most every weekend straight through the winter. It is just now starting to liven up a little bit. The seasonal sites are starting to wake up. Hubby and I were saying the other night while sitting by the edge of the lake watching a blue heron fish how peaceful it is in the off season. I have no plans to work there, that was just the one summer 2 yr ago, much to busy with work now. I also haven't been on much, but try to lurk once in a while. I miss seeing what everyone is up to and will try to come on more often. Take care.

Hi guys! It has been awhile! Life has been tough but we're getting things back together again! We had a great time camping at the ocean in Delaware over Easter break except for the fire ban! I got reprimanded because I didn't see the posted signs about the fires and had a nice big wood fire going! It was nice while it lasted anyway! It's good to hear from you all and nice to hear your plans-- beach camping, new bikes, jobs, etc! I feel like you are all old friends and it's nice to hear all has been well and you are all still camping! I cannot wait until summer and I head out to Maine again! In the meantime I have a lot of nice spring camping trips planned! I have surgery on my hand scheduled for May 18th and am thinking of recovering for a few days in Maine! I can't work so I might as well camp!

Hi, Jen: Oh, i've been sitting here by the fire, with my feet up on a foot stool, just waiting for warm weather and the chance to go out on a Bluegrass Pickin' weekend! I don't know if i'll take my motor home, or just take my little pickup, with 179,000 miles on it, and go!
I'm considering putting a peaked roof box on top of the bed sides, with a drop down door, like a cap upper gate, and take some honey, plenty of money, and my banjo! That ought to be enough, don't ya think?
When some goof asks me why i drive that old, ratty, pickup, i just say:"Its paid for, runs good, easy on gas, and the girls aren't jumping inside to ride around with me!"
Or, if i could find a small tent trailer to tow, i'd do that.
First weekend is in mid-May, so i'd better get crankin'!

Hi Rusty! I'm going back out again for a weekend trip the weekend after yours! This time with my high school camping club students.

Nothing wrong with a paid for dependable vehicle! Mine isn't the best camping vehicle (Honda civic) but it's paid for! I get to drive the truck all summer though and that's also paid for! My pop up is used and paid for as well! I'd rather go used and paid for any day! But, you don't want the girls jumping in your truck? I get compliments on my truck all of the time during the summer but the only guys I get jumping in are my dogs!

No, no girls jumping into my truck! As soon as they saw an old coot perched on the seat, it would scare them all away!
