When we moved here to our country home (converted barn) it was a couple of weeks before Christmas. That first Christmas morning my husband and I woke up to snow, beautiful fluffy sparkly snow. We have 11 pine trees surrounding the barn. Of course the snow covered the pine branches. I looked out the front window , and there sitting on one of the pine branches was a bright red Cardinal. It looked like a Christmas card, all white with some green and red. I wish I would have had a camera ready at the time. It was just so perfect. It gave us that warm fuzzy Christmas feeling. As we sat and drank a cup of Hot Cocoa and a Christmas cookie. I hope we have fresh snow for Christmas this year. patti

Mine grew quite high before it put out flowers. It definitely did not flower until it was around 5 -6 feet. Mine are already 8 feet and no flowers yet, I hope Mark is right :-( And, it was never "covered" in flowers like on the picture of the seed pack! I didn't notice any Hummers going near it either! Last minute decision to try it since I knew it would grow fairly quickly and I decided to put in hummer attractors way too late. From what you say it probably won't get a second chance, I'll only post back if otherwise. Have you seen any hummers? Sally says she is seeing a few. Tom

Wow, I've found the right place --- psycho bird victims unite! I've had male cardinal attacking my windows for 7 months now. I've tried covering windows, spraying windex(it was all I had) on outside of window, aluminum foil on outside of windows(I got creative for a while). If I cover one window he comes to another. He has now found my bedroom. This is from dawn to dusk and I'm not a fan of getting up at dusk! It's making me crazy, I'm smoking more, thinking of buying a gun(used to be a pacificist...) and losing friends! I've always been one to try to see a 'meaning' from the universe in odd moments but my love and peace tendencies are waning quickly. Please let me know if anything has worked ... I've got a lot of windows. Jeez, I just read they can live 15 years. I dont thidsfnk ihave thaat mch tiim lftt.

thank you! Iôve attached a pic of the popsicle bird feeder. One of those Pinterest things. Thank you for the advice, I was thinking to change the feeder, but thought first to try and get a different seed mix. What I got supposedly does not attract doves, but they there were....bullying the poor cardinals that wanted to come. I read that somebody posted once that the doves are scared easily. Not where I live. I actually have to go out and make a scandal before they just jump on the fence and watch me from there. Iôll try changing feeders...no fun watching doves eat my seeds.
