Gail, I haven't started, but yes, all this snow is definitely getting me in the mood. I'm mostly "getting ready to get ready". I'm taking my second graduate course which will finish up next week, so that's been taking up a lot of my time. Plus we're renovating here in my house too (which means I lost my overwintering spot for my tubers). I still don't have my bulbs in the ground, and I don't think I want to do it in all this snow (be kinda like ice-fishing). So I'm probably going to start them all in pots. In the meantime, I'm clearing off my table to get ready to go through my seeds. I need to at least find the seeds I'm sowing for Solstice. My opened bag of Promix is sitting on the porch, getting frozen. I have to clear a spot in my kitchen and transfer the soil to a kitty-litter bucket to make for a kinder, gentler, CLEANER WSing experience :-) So...I don't think you can live vicariously thru me, but isn't it nice to have snow? I hope we have snow cover through the whole season--it's good for the plants already in the ground. Linda

Yeah Janna we have strayed from "It's SNOWING" (how lovely), but frankly now that I've got some "cool" photos I'm tired of it and WANT Spring back! The weight of the build-up crushed the net and supports covering outer chicken run. Now while freezing MY tail feathers off I've got to get knee high boots on and wade into cold mud to try to lift and patch and get the net back on it's supports. Anyway, I like hearing about your photo experiences and seeing your AWESOME photos. I especially like the B&W softball shot ... GREAT!. Afraid tho that as much as I like them I suspect others will feel opposite. Not because they're lame, but they are WAY BIG! The problem of posting BIG pics in forums hits close to home because it's been a recent hot topic in my fishing forum. While I appreciate large high resolution pictures and have a graphic capable computer and high speed net connection to handle them, they do cause problems for folks who don't. First they throw the formatting of the text way off requiring people with small monitors to have to scroll back & forth to not only see the BIG pics, but also just to read the text. Many already frustrated by slow download give up and avoid the whole thread. Patty4150's post provides (at least for me) a rather confusing example of "CLICK" linking so the large pic pops up outside the forum in it's own new window. In the fish forum I learned special coding needed to put a text described clickable link to my large photo below a small version formatted to fits the normal width of the forum layout. My text goes like this, "CLICK HERE for 1200x1600 pixel 600k image" I've not yet figured out how to do that here in GardenWeb. youreit can you help? I use ImageShack for free image hosting. What's confusing with Patty's post is that the clickable text that looks to me like it should lead to picture posting instructions instead presents the pic she's sharing with us. We made it home last evening. Nebraska does a great job on their highways. Other than a little snow blowing in little drifts in the road it was mostly clean and dry. They called it a blizzard because of the ferocious winds and blowing snow but it was less than a foot of snow overall. Our road at home was drifted in some but we were able to plow through it with my one ton, 2 wheel drive pickup. Last night it got down to -15F. I could see my breath in my bedroom when I got up this morning. Thank goodness for electric mattress covers! It's up to 9F now but will only drop from here on as the sun moves to the west. My poor chickens are all standing around on one leg trying to warm the other under their feathers. I'm going to go do some sewing this afternoon and enjoy the heat that my sewing lamp puts off. Congrats, Edna on quitting. I can get down to a few a day but just can't get over the hump. I keep trying.

Bud, I'm in Oak Creek and it snowed very early in the morning, like around 1am and later. It stopped before 4am. There was snow on our deck, but not on the ground. Guess with all the wind, the wooden deck was really cold. Lost my basil and coleus, but other annuals and perennials remain pretty good. We've got another nite of cold temps, but not as bad as Wednesday nite. I just hope the remaining plants hang in there until it warms up a little at nite. It's 37 now, so that's 10 degrees warmer than last nite at this time. Kat
