Old Movie set / Campground/ Utah

Greetings!

There is a way cool, wooded, campground located in the foothills of Pine Mountain wilderness area, Southwestern Utah, Near the little town of Harrisburg, Utah.

The movie: "THEY CAME TO CORDURA" Starring Gary Cooper, Tab Hunter, and Rita Hayworth was filmed there. There was an old pioneer homestead/fortress that the hollywood people filmed at. AT one point, the cavalry charged the fort and blew it to bits. In the pictures I took below on the link you will see the remains of the fort scattered about and the snow peaked mountains behind. The campground is accessed by crossing a small stream with your campers through a concrete culvert. The canyon heads upstream to an ancient Indian Alcove with pictograph and mokie hand holds to climb up the waterfalls. The place is managed by the BLM Bureau of Land Management and is called

Red CLiffs Rec. area. The campground is supurb.

On a sad note, you may have heard of our flash flooding down here. Well, the camp host, and elderly man died while trying to drive across the raging stream and was swept into a nearby reservoir. His wife was with him and she survived. How sad. I stopped by the camp host site but no one was there, obviously. She is with relatives.

Well, I hope you all like the pictures of this beautiful place. It is one of my favorite places to cool off in the summer months.

Has anyone ever seen "They came to Cordura"?

cheers, jerry
