Wow! I haven't been to this forum in almost 2 months.I finally find a few minutes and this is the first thing to pop up. Talk about Twilight Zone!! I would love to be involved in a swap, Necia. I have been taking cuttings of my housplants and transplanting perennials like crazy the last few weeks. Let me know when and I'll be there!

P.S. My sister has a new house/garden also and will attend the swap. She isn't bringing plants to trade but she is bringing her handmade goat's milk/shea butter soap! I love the stuff and won't bathe with anything else!

Good for you! The small swap was more fun than a bigger one I attended. You get to interact more with the swappers.

We had a pot luck lunch and there were more desserts than anything else. You might want to do a list of foods and have people sign on for what they will bring.

Thanks Natvtxn! I am really looking forward to the swap. I am a member of the homeschool community and several of those friends are coming, plus a couple of gardening friends from my church. I think that I will contact our local County Extension Agent to see if she can include us in her weekly newspaper article. Maybe I should call the Master Gardener's? I also plan on 'advertising' on our local freecycle yahoo loop. Hopefuly we can share our addiction (I mean love) of gardening with some newbies!

What a great idea, Necia. Jerrie talked to me about a plant swap last spring but I had nothing to swap, as my perennials were just going in. Still don't have anything to swap but maybe can do some thinking/work between now and then. I wonder what grows quickly???

I may just have to make some pumpkin bread or something. I'll definitely drop by on the 10th.

Sandy, so glad to hear from you! I LOVE pumpkin bread! I am trying to think of things to start for the swap, also! I have a bad habit of planting everything that I get my hands on. :) I know that I will want to have a Spring Swap, as all of my perennials from this year will have made babies! I think that I will go ahead and start some Zebrina Hollyhock seeds, they sprout so quickly that I will have some of those babies to trade.

I have also harvested seeds from my Rockrose, Dwarf Pink Ruellia, Purple Coneflower, Mexican Hat, and Agastche Bubble Mint. I will be trading those for Winter Sowing.

I need to get busy! I look forward to meeting you and Jerrie!

Oh I wish I could come! I am from W.F. and have family there. But I'm afraid they are not much gardeners. I would have made the one today at F.W. Trinity Park, but it being our anniversary & all, my hubby wanted the attention.....of all things! :)

Turn into Belair on Del Rio, then left on Lesley Heights. Take the first right onto Opal Street. That is the street that the Park is on. Opal street is only one block long!

I am trying to start cuttings of my Lady Banks rose. I don't think it looks too promising, though. I am also going to have some of my perrennial elephant ears. What all have you found to bring?

I can't wait! I hope that the day time temps. stay in the 70's.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to check and see if you guys have found anything to bring to the swap. I am rooting some white daisy plants. I don't know what kind, other than the fact that they got 2 1/2 feet tall and bloomed their heads off all summer!

I also found a mondarda and dame's rocket to bring. I have a couple of houseplants; they just don't do well in my house.

I have airplane plant (or spider plant) babies out the wazhoo!! I also have lambs ear I'm trying to get rooted. I'll bring some daylily fans dug up that day and anything else I can think of.

Jerrie, The daylillies sound great! I went by Wichita Valley Nursery and they donated a spider plant and a bag full of iris tubers. I think that I have some perennial violets to dig up Saturday morning to bring. A lady that is a member on the wf_plant_exchange yahoo group is going to bring her worm compost tea to trade. This is what she is looking for:

I'm so glad that the forecast is showing 74 degrees on Saturday. I was afraid that it would be cold!

Did you happen to see the plant swap mentioned in the gardening section of the newspaper last Saturday? That was neat!

I am going to read up on the Round Robin for Swaps to see if that is what we want to do. I hope that it goes well so that we can have a Spring Swap, too!

Still working on what to bring. Don't know that I'll have anything to trade, but I can bring fresh cut rosemary if anyone wants any. Also, if anyone's interested, I have large pampas grass fronds that can be dried and used in floral arrangements. For both the rosemary and pampas fronds, I just need to get an idea of how much/how many to cut.

I also have some seed pods on my Texas Mountain Laurel. How do you know when to harvest them? Is it too late? Too early? If anyone wants any, I can bring those as well.
And, I have dried seeds from my Shoal Creek Vitex (Texas Lilac). Again, are the seeds ready now? Too late? Too early??

I'm not knowledgeable about propagation, other than cutting a philodendron, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sandy! I would like to try rooting some of the rosemary. Is it the upright or trailing kind? I don't know how many people to expect; I am thinking that it will be atleast 10 people, hopefully more! Maybe just cut enough for 5 -7 people?

I'm afraid that I'm not much help on the seed pods of the Mountain Laurel or Vitex, either! Yikes! I will google it to see if I can find anything out. I'm sure that there will be someone that would want the seed pods. I would love to grow both but we have a tiny yard and DH has already told me no!

Necia, it's the trailing or prostrate kind. It still has loads of fragrance, just like the upright. Currently, it's even putting on it's own little show of tiny blue flowers. Nothing all that spectacular, but kind of nice to see something in bloom now.

That sounds great, Sandy! My front flowerbed is raised about 1' so it would be nice to have the rosemary trail down the side.

I have one in the backyard but it hasn't bloomed. I just planted it this spring so maybe it hasn't been here long enough? It actually came from one that I had at my old house. I just pushed a branch down into the ground and placed a plant stake on it (to hold it down). It rooted and I cut it off and overwintered it in my greenhouse. I am glad that I did because the mother plant died last winter!

I can't wait to meet you and Jerrie tomorrow! You should see the flower sunvisor that my friend made for me to wear tomorrow. It is hilarious!

I cannot believe I did this!! I told my 4 yo grandson I would take him to a friends farm this saturday before I even thought about the date. I won't be there in body but I will in spirit. I'm so disappointed but I can't let the little guy down. It's all he has talked about since I said we could go. If anyone wants any spider plant babies, swedish ivy cuttings or daylilies, let me know. We'll hook up. I am so sorry Necia, I was looking forward to meeting you and Sandy.

OH NO!!! That is so sad! I'm happy for your Grandson, though :) Don't promise anything for the Spring until after we get the spring swap date set!LOL!

I would like some daylillies and ivy. If you have any already dug up for the swap, I could swing by and pick them up.
