Sad discovery this morning

Last night we had a terrible storm with high winds, lightening and rain. I had a robin's nest in a tree just beside my house. I thought it would get some protection. This morning I was worried about the babies and kept checking the nest from my window. Previously, I had been able to see their little heads sticking up out of the nest. This morning I couldn't see any of them and never saw the parents come to the nest. I went outside to check the area around the tree and that is when I saw one baby robin sitting in the grass. It was the only survivor. Two others lay dead in the grass. The wind must have blown them out of the nest. They were getting close to leaving the nest. However, I was heartbroken to see that 2 of them didn't survive the fall. I did see mom with her beak full looking for her little one. The baby kept running around my and my neighbour's yard so mom was having trouble keeping track of him/her. Hopefully, this little one will make it. I just wish it would find a nice protected spot and stay there so mom and dad could find it.
