Thanks everyone. Just so happy they came back. In another couple of weeks I'll be able to tell if they all made it. For now they are getting covered by a foot of snow. Not to worry... They seem to like it! :) Pam, My policy in regards to moving/dividing and such is that I only do it when the plant has become well established or it's been brought to my attention I have them in the wrong place. These were planted in sun 'til 11 am then dappled shade the rest of the day. They are in a garden which faces east. It took three years for the flowers to come. The leaves in year one and two were always healthy looking. Here's the eye candy from last year...

Hi deedee, Having your Bluebirds return to nest makes for a very happy Easter indeed. :) Congratulations. We always thoroughly clean our nestbox asap once the last nestling has fledged. Our mama blue (Missy) usually begins building her next nest within a few days. Mine is a sub zero and a nightmare to move morton...but think that through...if it's that hard to move, what are you going to do when you need to shut off the water FAST? Really...it's worth the hell of one last move to put the alarm/shut off on the thing because I certainly couldn't move mine if we had a quickie emergency leak! It shuts off the water so quickly you'd not have any damage at all! Blue, I have to rehang my window coverings and paint the window trim, and then I can say "done". I wanted to get that done before we move into the winter house (DS and I are becoming snow birds) but I'm not sure I can do it. I may have to give up LOL (And I'd like to have drapes made but don't see having the time in the next few weeks). I do love our chicken kitchen :) and the bench seating in the bay window came out soooooo cool (and I've never posted a pic LOL). Maybe I should give up on paint and just try to post it before we move to the new house LOL I really am sorry to see the old timers come back with a floor or whatever issue (I'm so old that I've seen it before sadly). But I always enjoyed you so I'm glad you'll be back for a bit of my ride down "victorian kitchen lane". This one will be entirely different, and probably not started for a year, but I'll have fun posting plans and letting folks beat them up :)

It's almost impossible to get anything mass produced that is NOT in the current trend colors. I know because I have been scanning internet sites for months looking for "inspiration" pieces. I also have downloaded design magazines - mostly from UK and USA but a few from Singapore and Australia out of curiosity. This is probably way over generalizing but the UK magazines highlighting actual interiors seem to have way more diversity and way more use of color than the US design magazines. The spotlighted US interiors still seem to be the beige and gray palette - very tasteful but boring to me personally. Some of the HOMES/APARTMENTS done by designers for themselves use color but these are noted as "eccentric" and the use of color doesn't seem to be a standard thing but one that is noteworthy in the editorial and the captions. But in the ads and the little promotional editorial pages, there is more statements of what coming color trends are with examples of items in those trending colors. Since I don't give a rat's patootie about trending colors except from a sociological/anthropological perspective (such as this thread), I don't remember which colors are trending - is millennial pink now gone. Rose Gold as a finish on fixtures seems to be ascendant as I recall. I did do a trendy living room back in the 1980's with pink and gray with black accents. And now millennial pink has made pink trendy again. :-) What is ironic is that I sent my designer a picture of a sofa as one of my inspirations knowing because I loved the luscious rich teal blue and the burnout type of pattern of the velvet so we wound up designing a lot around the color palette. I was somewhat disappointed when she told me that teal blue is trending :-( (sigh) again. It's last moment was the late 1960's. Trend or not trend, I liked the color.
