Tomatoes and too much sun?

After I started using a soaker hose on a timer in my garden, my tomato plants definitely started perking back up even after the first water..I have the soaker run for two hours between 4:30-6:30 am, every other day..but now they are slowly starting to look sickly again. I don't know if it's just cause it's near the end of the growing season or what, but I was at my aunt's house last night, and they have tomatoes planted closer to the house, and they are definitely a little more shaded. The plants are very tall, and extremely lush and green....big green tomatoes on them that look very healthy, although my aunt says none of them have turned ripe yet, and that was her dissapointment. However, my tomatoes are in the full blown sun in the afternoon....and it's been easily getting in the upper 80s and even lower 90s here in Ohio lately. Is there such a thing as tomatoes getting too much sun? Lots of the stems and leaves are just browning and drying up to a crisp!
