Christine - Thank-you for your comments! (and to everyone else as well) Yes Mokan Butterfly really is that white. It photographed just exactly the way it looks in person. As for the poppies, I dug them up and brought them with me from my old house. I usually see the standard red ones but not the pink ones very often. I do love them and they do well for me. When the heat of summer comes on they go dormant and the foliage dies so I cut it right back. Then the foliage starts to grow again and last year they rebloomed for me in the Fall! The lawn is thick but unfortunately it does have weeds that I've been trying to fight. I do my best but it's far from perfect LOL. Jason

I just read my post and it seems a little curt. I'm sorry; I certainly did not mean it that way. The little dead bird in the nest was all dried out and hard as a rock. I think it had been dead for more than a week but was too large for the parents to take out. The wing that I found ~25 feet away from the box still had moist flesh on it. That's why I think it was a hawk. Although a raccoon could have taken it. There was no other sign of the bird. Linda C

Howdy! Many Bluebirders don't get to see the babies go for a few years. I am sure you will get to join the "I saw them fledge" club soon! Do you have a somewhat wooded area near? You say you thought they would go to your "tree" meaning you only have one? The parents will have guided them to the safest nearby spot with lots of tree cover. It must not be to far off since you have seen them on the fence. Keep the meal worms out and they will bring the babies down in a week or two.

Ohsoblue I will be pleasantly surprised if we get another nesting, but it could be in one of the neighbors yards, as they have all put up boxes, but I do not think they monitor very well. If they do come to our yard, I hope they choose the other box, as we have a camera in it. Mine are still coming back for meal worms, but the worms are just about gone and I doubt I will order more, unless I see a nest being built. It has been fun.
