Thanks to all for the responses, they seem to be eager to grow, surprising how well these plants travel. I didn't trim the roots before potting, any slight damage to the very thin roots had sealed over so I thought it best to leave them. The growing mix is just Miracle Gro with lots of perlite, this seems to work for me. When potting I don't compact the mix but just pour it in, the idea is that it will aid aeration, and of course unglazed clay pots. Happy growing, Brian UK.

I agree with wekick. Do not live with this product for years! Get your money back and another range. Teresa

It is VERY common for a store to repair an item rather than replace it. This is not because the store wants to shaft the customer. It is usually because the manufacturer will want to send replacement parts (ie, the base of a chair, seat of a sofa, side panel of a bed, etc.) rather than replace the entire piece. This is common sense. Why would any store replace an entire piece when a part can be ordered and make the existing piece new again. Most people have no clue how the industry works nor do they have a clue how most furniture is made and built. If you bought a new car and something was wrong right away, the dealer would repair it, not give you a whole new car. This is standard practice in the furniture industry as it should be. I have worked in furniture for over 30 years with 3 different companies. Repairing before replacing is not a scam and is standard practice in most instances. Most advice given online about how to deal with furniture stores is garbage, and most issues can be resolved with a simple repair of replacement part. If a leather sofa comes with a big scratch, why on Earth would the manufacturer replace the enitre piece when they could replace just a seat cushion, or even send a cut and sew piece of leather for a repair person. American consumers are spoiled and seem to think they can just demand whatever they like from a store and the store has to kiss their ass. Nope!

Oh, yes, instant gratification is good. I justify it to myself by remembering that I'd ordinarily be spending for annuals, ferts, amendments, and other spring garden prep needs. But I can definitely see the joy in growing from leaves...if all goes well with the "family" this summer, I might venture into serious leaf growing during the winter. I always have something started indoors in those months, as it is. For now, I'll practice with leaves from these plants. I learned about Jo, from someone on this board, when I was doing my crash course in mini-care. I think the site is www.josviolets.com She has a great list, though no photos, and offers 8 plants, for $35.00, including shipping. You can order all of one size, or a mix of them. I ordered minis and semi-minis. Have you grown any trailing minis? What do you have them in? I'm wondering how they would do in small bonsai pots. They are 2 and 3 inches across, but shallow. ( I guess I can' insert links here, and can't delete them once they are in the message, so that link below that says josviolets.cothese is actually 2 links.) The seller, Greers Gardens, is closing in July, and no other supplier sells them as cheaply. I think I'm done with my mass purchases now, at least until the younguns are grown and I see how much space this forest of young plants is really going to need. I can see that I'm going to need to improve my photo skills for this forum. I just hope I have some pretties to photo! Jan
