When I found several ticks I decided no photo was worth it and started for home but just then a flash of red flew past me. I'd forgotten about the Scarlet Tanager and now I forgot about the ticks!

I kept hearing Kentucky Warbler song so I went that direction next

A Swainson's Thrush had been following me since I'd been photographing the Indigo Bunting, slipping in and out of the trees like a shadow.

The male KY Warbler began following me as well, singing vigorously just off the trail

I heard a Yellow-throated Vireo and was trying to take photos of it when a male Black-and-White Warbler flew down to check out my camera bag, then began spiraling around nearby trees

It came so close I could have picked it up, then moved further away, partially obscured by brush

I was delighted..my previous attempts to photograph one this spring had failed, but now here was one so close I couldn't focus with my 400mm lens

The Scarlet Tanager and his mate passed fairly close to me, but I couldn't get a clear photo.

I remembered I had to go home to let the terriers off the deck, but as I passed the pond, there was the male Wood Duck!

I got home just as the rain started again, and it rained through the night and most of the day, although it let up enough for me to take the dogs and parrot for a quick run on Narnia Ridge after work.

I'd just finished feeding the horse and mule after we returned when a severe lightning storm hit.
