Cat Deterrents for your Garden: Keep in mind that each cat is different (like people), a deterrent that works for one may not necessarily work for another. On the plus side, most cats will keep pesty squirrels, moles and other critters out of your garden. Hi, I think it is a Carolina wren, not a House wren, but no matter. It is a very tough situation, and I am not sure what you can do. The fledglings do not move to nests, but to the branches of trees and bushes. So if you could get them off the ground, into the branches, out of the cats' reach, that might help. In the meantime, be careful not to keep visiting the nest, as it will attract predators and worse, frighten the chicks out of the nest before they are ready to perch.

Good luck asking her to keep them home...if it works, please come ask my neighbors to keep their dogs home- they poop in the yard, drag stuff out of its place in the barn, bit my dog and myself.... Anyway- there is a product that you put in the soil- I'm sure someone here will know the name- it is supposed to repel dogs and cats also, I think. I'd hate to use mothballs, as they stink to us and I do not know if mothballs really work. Can you temporarily put rocks/shells- something like that so the cat can't dig in the dirt to 'cover-up'? If it can't 'cover', it might not want to use it as a litterbox??? Spray the cat with a waterhose if you are able to...might make it think twice..

There's a product called "Scram".....it's a powder. VERY EFFECTIVE!!!!! Just sprinkle it where ever there's a problem and they won't use that area. The treatment lasts about 2 weeks, then reapply.
