New to Bluebirding

I erected two bluebird houses on my property around the pasture. Finally, two weeks ago a couple of blues came and I thought they were building a nest. I have not seen them (I can't watch 24/7) for a couple of days. THe boxes are erected at the right height, etc.

Could they have just been exploring the idea of this box and decide against it? Or is it too late to start a brood and they are looking for next year?

I suppose it's possible that I am just missing them, especially if she is actually sitting on eggs. But even if I don't see him I hear him singing and I haven't.

Any thoughts? THanks.
